For things like foods, and other “use” items that can be bought from vendors in the world. Like at Diessa Plateau there’s a firebomb you can buy from a vendor with Karma, but when would it be likely to open my inventory during a fight to “use” it? A UI update with drag and drop slots for these things would be more intuitive, no? :-) thank you for reading.

Absolutely, never understood why they didn’t implement it. It’s fairly standard in every MMO. Maybe Anet likes non cluttered UIs, but at least let us customize it… Side tool bars for Toys, Consumables, Tonics etc. would be a bliss! It’s horrible to open the kitten ‘i’-menu all the time to use items like the Birthday Cannon.

Would like this as well. Small icons beside the profession skills f1-f4 so they don’t take up any extra room, don’t need that many but I would like to have toys and some temp weapon/bomb/etc easy to access.

I already suggested this in another post of mine, but it was a bit hidden in the last paragraph of the post. My idea included not only the usage of any type of consumables from this additional quickbar, but also the addition of user-defined equipment sets (like “this is my berserker set and that is my condition damage set”) that should be switchable from there. So of course I have to fully support this idea

Had it listed about 8 months ago as 28. Ability to pin a bag/several items from it to be always visible – especially useful for nourishments, consumables, weapons, minis. and 134. “Nourishment slots”: stacks of food from this slot are automatically consumed when expired (not likely as conflicts with Metabolic Primer from gemstore). in this list of QoL features

20 level 80s and counting.

I’m al for a clean and organised UI, and therefore love the current layout, but I must admit that it would be great if we could, to some extent, add items to a custom toolbar of some sorts.

That would be awesome. I was in SilverWastes last night and Breach started and I’m in the underground and down one champ, THEN realize I need to use one of the several extractors I have in my inventory. Had I been able to simply see those on my screeen I would have used it on 2 champs instead of 1. I can’t think of a reason this type of bar wouldn’t be useful.

If a feature like this IS introduced, I’d like it to be toggleable. I don’t really use consumables very often anymore aside from food, and the extra UI clutter is something I wouldn’t want on my screen. As it stands, I already think there’s enough stuff all over my UI, that I don’t really want any more of it. I’m completely fine opening my inventory to use consumables.

Although consumables are not particularly important in any part of the game this is still a nice QoL. Granted you’d probably only have need for a handful of these slots.

If they can add 1 slot for mini pet. They can add 3 slots on the screen for those consumables…
At least consumables are useful… People need something productive.
And they can add automatic usage of consumables. Example: If you are in zerg party and you are killing mobs for 6 hours.. It would be cool not to click on the consumables every 15 or 30 min…

Just let us customize ourselves. There are numerous examples out there. I just wish to have an advanced option to do this. Either a side bar of X amount of fields or a toolbar near the skills, whatever you like. I would use around 5-6 slots, but of course there are people who need much more like 10-20 slots. It really is something we should be able to customize. I made this suggestion about 1-2 years ago and saw it several times pop up. Please do it!

I would rather you have button that you assign to flip the current skill bar over to the consumable bar and also you have to hold the button in while activating the number on the bar. This way, if you are in WvW or sPvP type game play and you get attacked you just let go of the button you assigned and it goes back to being the skill bar and you go right back to being able to fight. The reason you need more than just two or three slots is the Siege Items you build in WvW would need a slot for each plus any food/utility/boosts you want to use, so 10 slots would greatly assist Commanders and help anyone else needing the extra spots.
Also add another button to assign to use for a /emote bar that operates in the same manner as listed for the consume bar. Make emoticons for all the /emotes and have it while you have your assigned button pressed a + sign will appear and you can add whichever emoticon you want in the bar. So you can always get to that emoticon fast as possible.

Also note my idea does not need more UI elements added so that would expedite the production.

You have no idea how Anet handles the production and development of said content. They have people who’s job is doing certain aspects of the game like QoL enhancements while someone else would be PvP while another is Skills and maybe another is Traits and then there is the Story guys and gals.
So in that respect since I do not want one of these guys just standing around doing nothing(loosing their job), I think its best that us guys continue making more and more posts about all the things we all want worked on, no matter what dept. will work on it. So your request is denied.

One of the main purposes (from my view) of the Metabolic Primer (and utility one) is so that you can set it and forget it for the people who forget to keep reapplying foods.

This would defeat one of the major purposes of that item, cutting into profits.

I don’t see it happening.

There are more consumables than just food and utilities ….like for instance Siege bundles and also I want a /emote bar which as it stands now is able to be expandable, Anet could very well add an /emote pack or in this instance if it was added as per my outline(see above) it would be emoticons which they could then add to the gem store.

I’m aware.

That doesn’t change the fact that it would defeat one of the major purposes behind purchasing the Primers (the other being saving money on foods, but there’s few foods that are expensive enough to warrant buying gems for a primer instead of more of the food).

Money yes is the only reason they should not, but this really seems to make this pay-to-win….See my idea about emoticons is not PtW, it does not help or give you an advantage over other players that paid for primers does even if only slightly. I think my idea is win win, without PtW. They give us a useful way to have Con’s easily available and add a /emote bar at the same time with a gem store purchase of an additional emoticon pack. I see no reason that should stop people from using primers just the same.

Also let me point out that my idea does not incorporate a bar that stays on the screen and is visible at all times. You would have to hold down the assigned button to make the skill bar switch to the con’s bar and upon releasing the button it goes back to skills. So using the timer count down feature that you can use on skills showing the button grayed out til its ready to use again would not apply. So really it would work just like it does now but with added convenience of not going back into your bags which what it is all about for me. Its not gonna help the person who just does not want to look and or keep up with his buffs, which info stays on the screen til it runs out.

The more likely method of implementing extra emotes would be the way they already do it with the dance book. Get item, use item, changes your skill bar.

You’d have to convince them of a good reason why they should implement something like a special bar when they’ve already got a system in place that could be simply tweaked rather than written from scratch.

Its funny you should bring up that, I see no reason to disagree with you on the How to dance Volume 1 being a part of the emote system. Except one thing, I want to note the bar I am talking about would allow all the current emotes to have a emoticon and you could set your favorites on any number in the bar allowing fast access to the ones you use the most. The addition of new books, guess where they would go…..that’s right, in the Consumable bar that I am already talking about.
The only thing that I would suggest is that they change the functionality of the books a small bit so that it adds the new emoticons into the list where you can add your favorite dance move into the bar without opening the book every time you want to dance. The books would work the same otherwise and the function of using the Invitation to dance would still require opening the book not just using the emoticon that you placed on the /emote bar.

As far as convincing Anet of a good reason. Well I am gonna say that QoL is already good reason for them, as it keeps players happy. Without continual improvements to the game some people easily loose interest. Its in their best interest to keep us playing and paying for new gem store stuff. My idea has both of those elements, sure they have to give us one thing for free but new books with new emoticons coming out would get more money for them.

SIGNED! I was thinking about this the other day. I have purchased a few “bundle” weapons from merchants and they just sit in my inventory. Same with consumables – I use them when I start my play session but then I forget to renew them because its a hassle to have to open my inventory to use them.

And let us put “alternate” weapons there as well.

how about they allow us to save build templates complete with armor and weapon layouts so that “out of combat” you can load your tanky template and all the changes to traits/armor/weapons/accessories happen instantly when you click the ok button. Then as simple as that you can reload back into a damage build after that fight is over once out of combat.

Absolutely – I would also like to see a weapons exchange in this idea as it would also make life easier – Takes time to change them over and put them some where in your bag where the are safe – A lock weapons and gear toggle would also be great -
