I would love to see the art team go to town creating some really gorgeous class defining armor which is restricted to that profession. The whole mix match piece it together yourself is great, dungeon armors are great, but I would really like something in the game that indicates I am THIS class. Mistward armor has all the revenants excited, something like that but for every class and EXCLUSIVE to that class.

We already have armor divided by gender and by race, i think it’s time to get some class specific armor as well. What do you guys think?

…there never was the time not to do it. This should have been the way they did it from the start. Sure.. not restricted to a class itself, but atleast fitting for the classes inside the weight class. There are some armors that got a class feel to them… but not nearly enough. Specially mediums suffer from that a lot. 3 Classes that couldnt be more different in fighting styles share one thing… coats. Heavy and light got it easier to get some class feel in but still not fully there. There just should be a pile of armors that scream to be made for that one class in design…and the rest should be left to the player taste.

How about creating armorsets with themes that fit x profession and not restrict them to the class that fits the theme?

That way you can still dress according to the team, and others can still use the pieces to mix and match. Or use, f. ex. , a firey ele armor to inspire his fiery mesmer.

The chars aren’t set up to have profession specific armor. That would have to be reworked as well. There would be several layers then of armor restrictions. Gender, race (cultural), weight class, and then profession specific. I doubt they are willing to rework the 9 different professions to add another layer like this.

Be careful what you ask for

Not sure where you got the *2*5 from, but what I’m asking for is 9 new armor sets.

And I’m willing to pay 0. Same amount I paid for cool armor sets in every other MMO I’ve ever played.

*2 for genders, and *5 for races. Or should the armor sets only cater to people playing male human (or whichever you play)?

And how many of those MMOs did you play for free after initial purchase?

If you’re asking them to go out of their way to rework professions so that profession specific set of armors are in game (which of course would have to be modeled separately for each profession, sex, and race) then don’t expect them to hand over that much work for free.

So Anet should never create new armor sets? That seems rather extreme.

This was one of the things SE did so well with ff11 and ffARR. I always loved doing the quests for the jobs and getting really neat looking armor. Then later getting an HQ version in something like a raid or endgame content and it looked even cooler.

Profession armor, racially styled would be my preference. A Charr Warrior should not look like a Human Warrior etc. The armor would most likely meet all the same requirements we have now but be customized to reflect a profession’s style/theme and gain a restriction for that profession.

Dare I mention outfits as well? At least for crafting…it might be nice with options to automatically switch to our preferred outfit(s) when we activate a crafting table.

That is not at all what I am saying (or even implying). But a suggestion like this would need ALL the items AT ONCE, and creating 90 armor sets (and then we also have 6 parts per set so basically 540 unique pieces) would take massive amount of time and resources. Especially considering that it is more than we have gotten in the way of armor since release.

And unless people were willing to pay extra for all that work, they would have to take that money and resources from elsewhere.

From a lot of your posts I get the feeling that you’re some low-ranked Anet employee that hates the playerbase and uses this account to bring down other opinions.

Or just a brownnoser.

Or maybe I am just realistic and understand that ArenaNet is a business and thus their first and foremost goal is to make money?

But of course, not bashing ArenaNet or the game is not allowed on these forums.

Dunno if it has been said yet… But… We atleast know that each Elite Spec will have an unlockable weapon skin with Hero Points no? I can be wrong but I just assumed that the weapon is not the only skin to unlock since it looks at the artwork that each Elite Specialization has it’s own armor skin too?

I wouldn’t mind more mix and match armors and I would be willing to pay for them even more than I would pay for Outfits.

I’m going to point out that I feel this is one of the biggest problems with GW2 right now – for a game that’s supposedly cosmetic driven in its focus we’ve had an abnormally low amount of armor come into the game.

If here they fall they shall live on when ever you cry “For Ascalon!”

Please no.

I already think that separating light/medium/heavy is a stupid thing.

While we have so many outfits already that completely change the characters look to be nowhere close to the armor type, why don’t we have the choice to change the look of the armor as we want?

Most of the heavy armor for example look really awful imo, why can’t I make my guardian look somewhat like a priest or monk for example?

I’d rather have class defining armor that isn’t class restricted, like the Revenant Armor. Only Rangers get that luxury for medium armor.

Profession armor, racially styled would be my preference.

Oh yeah .. and maybe different armor for every colour of your skin, and every name ?

And then we have 10 millions armor skins, but every character can only wear
exactly ONE of them, and 99% of the player complain that they can only wear
one specific ugly armor.

So : NO !! I would rather have armor that can be used by a lot of my chars
and especially i want finally some real 6 pieces armor again that i can mix
and match, and no more boring costumes.

I would also prefer when my humans could wear norn racial armor and my norn
humans.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

How does making pieces available to everyone mkae it impossible for people to look like the profession they play? Dry bones armor is very necromancer inspired, if they want to look like a necro, it’s there (as well as other armors) but other people can use it too.

how does that restrict any freedom whatsoever?

I mean, you kinda are implying it. You’re saying that there’s no money in producing new armor sets, since every new armor set is going to have the same number of pieces and models. There’s no reason to assume they’d need to release them all at once (they didn’t release all of the Elite Specializations for BWE1, after all).

And unless people were willing to pay extra for all that work, they would have to take that money and resources from elsewhere.

They could also get their resources back through increased retention. If these sets were difficult and time-consuming to get, they would become prestige objects players could work towards, and keeping players playing means those players are more likely to spend real money.

Look, no one’s DEMANDING this of Anet. It’s just a neat suggestion. It’d probably make more sense for Anet to release them as profession-locked Outfits, but there’s no reason to assume they couldn’t add in some new armor sets as well, and as long as we’re not being petulant about it (which we aren’t) then there’s no reason to get up on your high horse like you’ve been doing.

You don’t get what he’s saying. Congrats.

Here’s how it SHOULD work if it ever came to be.

Mesmer themed outfit. Any cloth can wear it though.
Guardian themed outfit. Any heavy can wear it though.

ETC. Just like Rev. ALL HEAVY CAN WEAR IT.

No one wants to be stuck LOOKING like their class. Branching out and making the character less cheese is part of the GW2 appeal.

including class specific armors is actually a perfectly reasonable request…but the game has turned into outfit wars 2.

it’s been noted before …game has had 50 armor sets per weight class in the first year and a half. 3 armor sets in the last year (cara/lumi and 2 in new expac). anet doesn’t/can’t make armor sets anymore.

This is one thing I miss that didn’t carry over from GW1. Was the class armor. Seeing someone running at me and not knowing just by sight what class they are dose give a mystery untill you target them. But yeah, I missed the armor sets that just announce. I’m a (insert class here) check my awesome look. Most classes have something unique armor wise, normally the starting armor, that the other classes shouldn’t have access to. I think, and I mean I think warriors are the only ones with out unique skins in the starting armor. I’m sure they can all be picked up in game as drops/rewards where as the others are not. But again I could be wrong.
