The character select screen after the demo is over.
I like it much more than the HoT select screen.
>___o

I play Fort Aspenwood, I lead the 8 member guild, Sacred Storm [Strm] I am Jason Goes Mental.
I don’t raid, I barely fractal, and I suck beyond words at PvP and WvW.
But I try, and that’s what counts.

Re: the ‘new’ PoF CS background. I do not like it at all. Previous screens have been either soothing or exciting, boosting my enthusiasm to play. This is ominous and dreadful. I hope they can change it to something akin to the landscapes we saw last week. Desert societies are known for their welcoming culture, after all.
Basic color psychology is at work here. Dark and ‘cool’ colors such as are used in this “Burnt Desert” scenario are depressing. I feel so strongly about this that I’m losing time from my preview weekend to express my opinion about it.

Yeah let’s make it all happy and exciting looking while we chase Balthazar through Crystal Desert to foil his plans. That makes sense.

The darker colours and purples/browns/oranges have been part of it since the end of LS3 and the splash screen saying to look forward to the announcement.

HoT was green and white (for some reason), and this is what it is. Why make them similar?

I actually like the background of PoF but I like the HoT theme more.

Personally, I’m a bit tired of white, so I like the new Launcher, and Character Select screen.

What’s the HoT themed character select? Mine was still the normal white one we have since launch.
Oh wait, nvm. I just looked at old screenshots. I had never even realized it was different.
I like the new one but the strong contrast in lighting and shadow make my characters looks strange, except my necro. But it’s not enough to bother me. I don’t stay much on character select, but the previous background was better for character screenshots

I say we should have options!

So we can choose to have the screen we like the most at the moment!

So that those who like the base game one can use that, those that like HoT’s the best can use that, and those who like PoF’s the best can use that. And have an option to be “the most recent EP” for those who want that as well. And even a “random option” for those who like them all and can’t decide.

A night option and choosing between backgrounds would satiate all parties.

I really like the character select screen, but I’ve always wished there were more options. Switching between HoT and PoF screens would be very nice, but if you can. Please let us have better layout options for our characters. It does look very nice for the normal 5 slots or around that number for most of the player base, but it just feels punishing/confusing if you have more then that.

It’s kind of an unfun game of guess how far away the character you’re looking for is.

Background is one thing, but the lighting used in the PoF screen is really bad and makes the characters look weird.

Actions, not words.
