Can we start getting announcements?
Apparently there was a livestream set for noon PDT today. Apparently the announcement was plastered all over GW2 Facebook and Twitter. Can the people who don’t give in to social media sites start getting some news maybe on these forums? You know, the official game forums? Or maybe even on the launcher?

Apparently there was a livestream set for noon PDT today. Apparently the announcement was plastered all over GW2 Facebook and Twitter. Can the people who don’t give in to social media sites start getting some news maybe on these forums? You know, the official game forums? Or maybe even on the launcher?

The launcher would be a fantastic place to put announcements and information about upcoming changes and events to the game, but you have to understand, it’s not “popular”.

I do agree that the launcher is the best place to put reminders for events like these, but bear in mind this was not announced only on facebook and twitter. The date and times for the developer livestream have been on the Queen’s Jubilee website since it went up on july 30th (I remember because I set a calendar reminder on google back then), and the link to that site was on the launcher, and has been discussed a LOT in the forums.

The date and time for the livestream was announced when the release page for the Queen’s Jubilee went live. A link to this information was also included in the game launcher.
People were not required to go to Twitter or Facebook for information about the livestream. Anyone who didn’t want to look on social media for information about the livestream just had to look at the official website.

Yep, Regina, I went to the official website, drilled down with the Learn More link, and sure enough there it was. To bad I almost always come directly to the Forums, where one would expect Everything to be easily found and or announced.
(EDIT: See also my rant in the Early Voting Cut Off thread in the Cutthroat Politics Living World sub-forum for how I really feel at present about the communication of information to the player community. I generally try to avoid rants, but this one got me – congrats on making a sleepy old man interested.)
As for the Launcher, on my 20" wide screen monitor it is So Tiny that reading the resulting itty bitty text is just too hard. Is it possible for me to resize the Launcher to a larger area?

I am not sure what your settings are, but on my 27 inch display at 1920×1080, the launcher displays just fine. Completely readable text.

Although I agree with you OP; Be careful how you question the handling of social media, topics like this get closed down quick.
Announcements are on the launcher… Also, if people want to know they will check the websites. There is no point advertising things to people who aren’t that interested.
Aesir, Afya both my computers use monitors that are HD native, and in my experience the native resolution is always the best Overall choice. I do use this for things other than GW2.
On my wife’s 27" work from home I can easily read announcements too. On this monitor I would estimate the type size at 6 point or smaller and it requires I hold my head just right and look through the perfect sweet spot of my progressive lens to barely make it out.
Truth told, since I can’t be bothered to sit here and move my head around like that new animated bird and take an eye test every time I want to glean the Anet pearls of wisdom, I have autoplay on, and the announcements are on screen for just a flash anyway.
Which is why I use the most interesting, and what should imo be the most complete communication venue (the Forums) as my primary source. An exercise in folly as it would now appear.

They had this in the GW1 launcher, we were notified there when new things were coming out and it was glorious to have. Please bring this into GW2, along with many of the other cooler things that GW1 has over GW2. Thank you ANET.
