So I noticed that the Festive Imbiber achievement is listed under Community now so that it can still be completed. Hooray!

What about the Candy Cane achievement, though? That one was also pretty painful, and I made the (mistaken) assumption that it would get the same treatment. Apparently not! Is there any way this could be changed so that the Candy Cane achievement could still be done? Thanks!

Here’s what the Devs had to say previously about the issue:

Will the candy cane achievement be given similar treatment to Festive Imbiber? It’s not required for the shoulders, but it’s still one that is on a similar progression scale as Festive Imbiber.
Candy cane achievement will not stay available. It is not needed for anything else (except the meta). Progress will be saved and will be able to be finished next Wintersday.

There is no way the people that used their canes up to get the AP would be happy if they changed it now at this late stage anyway.

It wouldn’t have harmed them if it was changed (they’d still have their AP) so I don’t see the issue.

This is extremely good information, thank you. At least progress is saved and can be completed next Wintersday. Because of that I don’t feel like I’m out of luck forever.

Yes, it would, they would have had to use them without the benefit of the buff. you just don’t want to see it would be unfair because it benefits you not to see it. I for one would be kittened if I had wasted up to 2k+ minutes of karma booster minutes in order to do what was required.

It was quite clear what was required, you mistakenly assumed something that was incorrect and so you have to wait til next year. I am not sure why you are even posting this thread – it was your error.

I did grump a little (to myself) that I had to simply spam the candy canes to get the achievement when I did so want to use them for the buff (10% karma adds up). But, oh well. I’ll get more candy canes eventually.

So what you two are saying is that my suggestion in the OP would’ve been far better because they could’ve spread candy cane usage out over the year. Glad you agree! I made the mistake of assuming it would get the same treatment as the Festive Imbiber achievement, and that’s entirely why I didn’t gobble my candy canes right away. It’s a shame, but at least it comes back next year for me to finish the achievement.

@ thisisit.6954: I’m unsure what you’re trying to communicate about errors; your second paragraph doesn’t make sense to me in the context of the discussion. Can you elaborate?

Oh yes, absolutely agree Rising. I was sort of hoping, when they came back with Festive Imbiber being year round, that Confectioner would be too. I’m glad I dug through that thread for the answer (since a couple of people did ask).

I can use one Candy Cane just before I complete a karma awarding event, (Can’t tell you how much karma I got doing that in bell choir but it’s a lot).
or I can gulp them down rapidly and get a "sweet tooth’ title.

Even if the original karma earned is only 1400, then the candy cane gives 140 karma extra. That’s a choice of 350,000 karma (on the low end) or a title.
As much as I like sweets, I’ll take the karma every time, including next Wintersday.

I was doing 30 of them (max 30 minute boost) and running the jp which was 30 min long. Worked out pretty well.

I also agree it would have been better if it was originally designed to be across the entire year but it wasnt. I think its far too late now to change it and would make a ton of people unhappy. I threw 50g into buying canes that I wanted to spend on other things to make sure I got it done in time.

Sorry for your mistake but in this case I vote you just deal with it until next wintersday.
