Candy Corn Gobbler this halloween please?
+1
missed out on buying it before, and have regretted it since

I think it was available for Halloween 2015, but only after players requested it, and I think it was only in the gem shop for about a week.
Take my word for it: it’s not worth the gems.
I bought it in 2014 and at least half the time it transformed me into a mummy without giving me any buffs. When it did give me a buff, it was WXP boost most of the time. You could wind up with hours of WXP booster and have maybe a half hour to an hour each of various other buffs. If I remember right, people complained last year that it still functioned pretty much the same.
Last year though, there were a lot more items to purchase with candy corn cobs. You can trade 1,000 pieces of candy corn for a cob. You can actually still do it right now by talking to Sonder the Seller on the north west side of Lion’s Arch. I’m expecting candy corn cobs to be in high demand again, so instead of wasting them on a useless gem shop item, you’d be better off converting your candy corn into cobs and sell them on the trading post to make some gold.
Edit: If ArenaNet puts out some improvements this year to how it works, it might be worth buying if it’s available.
Thinking about it, they may just update the candy corn gobbler this year. They’ll probably add a boost for WvW/PvP reward tracks.
But, if you’re in need of the boost the gobbler gives you, and your guild hall has them available, https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Enhancements (available enhancements at the bottom)
You can choose a single buff that lasts 24 hours free of charge, and without needing special guild permissions. You can go back to your hall and choose another buff at any time or even the same buff to refresh the amount of time left.
So…..
Gobbler: gives a random boost that lasts only 15 minutes, but increases the duration by 7 minutes if it gives you a boost it already gave you, with a high chance if it just transforming you into a mummy and not give you a boost. That takes a lot of candy corn that you could make gold off of.
Guild hall tavern: gives a boost of your choosing that lasts 24 hours.
In its current iteration, it’s … not very convenient. It is really good at eating candy corn and really annoying at applying buffs. You have a fairly long cooldown on its use and because of the likelihood of a transformation, you can’t use it underwater or in combat or in a variety of situations.
Sometimes, I use a full stack of candy without getting the buff I want that will last longer than the time it takes to run through the stack.
Of course, ANet should bring it back so those who want to spend the gems can acquire it. But… I don’t recommend anyone invest in it, not until they make it more convenient to use.
I wish I could give you mine. I found it to be the most worthless gemstore item I’ve bought. Occasional random boosts that you may not want with lots of useless transformations that you definitely don’t want and that you have to pay for. If you try to stack boosts, the ones you want can expire by the time you get a second identical boosts. Mine has been sitting in my inventory unused, hoping they’ll change it to be worthwhile.
ANet may give it to you.
+1.
Would buy it, probably simply due to collector’s passion.
Pet project: Outfit overhaul.

The XP booster does work on WvW reward track at least (I don’t PVP but I assume it works there too). It also stacks with the tavern boost, so the 195 base goes to 214 I think it is with the tavern boost and 312 total with XP booster.
According to the Wiki it always gives 7min XP boosts just sometimes it’s doubled up for the 15 minute. Either way it’s definitely not 15 minutes the first time and 7mins after, it’s pretty random.
It’s a nice little thing, being able to go through reward tracks faster is worth the gold to me. I’ll click it for a minute or two while on the run and usually end up with about an hour of XP boost.
The gobbler has worked out pretty well for me. I average about an hour+ on all the boosts with 4 stack of candy corn. And the cost in gold for the candy corn is way less than trying to convert gold to gems to buy the boosters.
As for the time it takes to get to the boosts, I usually just click on it out of habit while i am waiting for a tower to cap or just running around.
But RNG is RNG so your mileage may vary.
edit: re read post and meant 1000 candy corns or 4 stacks.

posters in this thread saying gobbler isn’t awesome are wrong. it’s overhaul was a net nerf, but its still an unlimited source for really cheap xp boosts.
but is the rng annoyingly inconvenient? yes.
kinda doubt it will come back, the trend for gobblers has been to make them (sort of) hard to acquire thru achieves/collections and the nature of the beast is providing gem store items for in game currency, which isn’t really a path anet prolly wants promoted in an unlimited fashion for anything less than legendary prices.
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
Here is an idea rework it so instead of different buff’s and stuff make it like princess, star and item’s like that so we give it 50 candy corn we can get a ToT bag but limit it to 3 bag’s a day by now everyone should have candy corn node or have been hosted to get them but if they don’t want to do that at least make a candy bucket for our home so we can get trick or treat bag like with the wintersday tree.

As long as it doesn’t stop giving us boosts. I enjoy the Karma, speed, Luck and Rejenerative boosts that i get from it.

The buffs are nerfed now and only last a couple minutes, by the time you stack a few of them some have already worn off. It was worth the purchase when they sold it originally but in it’s current form I honestly would return it for refund if given the chance.

Actually as I stated I get about an hours+ worth of boosts from a 1000 candy corns. I just click on it while wandering to keep up the buffs. Sadly I guess my RNG is better than most, so I would prefer to keep it the way it is.
At current candy corn prices, 1000 candy corn is around 6 gold.
Not everyone thinks they’re getting enough for that 6 gold to be worth it. If you do, great. If you don’t that doesn’t mean your opinion is wrong about how good or useful this item is
ANet may give it to you.

I agree. People that don’t have it aren’t missing that much because the use is incredibly tedious and I’m not even sure the extra mf or xp is worth what the candy corns are worth. I’ve shelved it for the past year.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
