Hi guys,

I was finally able to convince two friends to join GW2
We are on the same world, same part of the map, we have formed a party and can see each other in the world, I can see their blue dot on the mini map and what not, all good.

However, we cannot see each others dynamic events at all. its like we are not on the same instance, but we can see each other so we should be.

Do you have an idea what might be wrong (what we are doing wrong)?

Ah, yes I forgot about hearts. That’s could be what it is.

Renown Hearts (aka heart quests) are available to everyone who hasn’t already completed them but unlike events participation is individual, even if you’re in a party. So if you’re doing a heart together it’s entirely possible for one person to finish before another.

So you’re in the same location as in you can literally see them standing next to your character, and if you took a screenshot you would all be in it? But they can see dynamic events that you can’t?

That is really strange. As far as I know all dynamic events are map-specific. Everyone in the map can see them and join in. That even applies to ones like the legendary tiger fights, which will only trigger if someone doing the collection for the legendary bow is on that stage, other people can still fight the tiger with them.

Is this happening with all dynamic events? Or only specific ones? And if so which ones?

(Alternatively are you sure you’re talking about events – the ones that have orange text in the top-right corner of the screen and orange symbols on the map. If you’re talking about the personal story – which has green text and green star symbols – then only the person whose story it is will be able to see it. Other people can enter the instance, but they won’t see the markers for them.)

Yes, if I would make a screenshot they would be in it. And yes, It is the orange text not the personal story ones.

It is happening with all events not just specific ones. but seem to be random, sometimes we do participate in the same event, but for me it shows that the event is complete (I get the bronze/silver/gold contribution) and the event does not show anymore but for them it is like at 50% complete or so. It’s like we are out of sync.

It sounds to me like you’re talking about hearts. If you have completed a heart, then you cannot see it anymore yes, and of cause you don’t always finish them at the same time, as it all depends on what you manage to do.
So in that case nothing’s wrong, if it also happens with dynamic events however, I have no clue.

A possible explanation:

Some dynamic events have NPCs with an orange star above their heads that tell you were the event is taking place. If you talk to them and “accept” the event, that event will be in your GUI no matter where you are on the map.

One of you could have such an event active while you’re all standing outside the active range of the event. In that case, only the player who accepted the event from the NPC will see the event.

I don’t think that is were the accepted events as we had none at that time.

It is entirely possible that it were the Renown Hearts. That is, I had it completed before them. I am now not so sure about the random events will check tonight when we play.
