Q:
Canthan New Year?
I’ve been wondering about this too.
I suspect they might keep it until an expansion comes out that re-introduces Cantha though. A lot of the canthan NPCs say they have no real connection to their homeland anymore because their family has been in Kryra (or at least the continent of Tyria) for generations so it’s possible they won’t still celebrate it.
I can’t decide if I’d prefer that to having it in the game earlier though.

At the moment we do not know anything about Cantha other than it’s seaway is closed off because of Zhaitan and his Risen, and probably because of the Deep Sea Dragon. I don’t think Canthan New Year will make an appearance at this point of time in Guild Wars 2, but probably in a Cantha expansion.
Canonically, Zhaitan is dead gone done. So there may be chance we may see Cantha sooner than you think.
I doupt it, Canthan new year was always held in Cantha, never in Tyria.
It might happen if Cantha is ever added to GW2

There’s a significantly higher Canthan population in Tyria (the continent, that is,) than there used to be, though.
I would think that the Canthan areas of Divinity’s Reach would be more likely to celebrate than back in the GW1 era when there had been only a handful of immigrants and they were pretty scattered.
So you expect them to release a new continent next month? Forget it.
And a Canthan New Year without Cantha, ha, what a party… I’m not sure I can imagine this in Tyria. Maybe 3 asian guyz celebrating that in their Divinity Reach house. Not enough to make a real event.
However if they plan on releasing Dragon Festival… It’s in July so the game will be about 10-11 months old… if they are really working on Cantha, then it has a chance to be there. I heard that GW2 will be released for China in “late 2013”… A China release without Asian content? I doubt it.

Chinese players love their euro-fantasy games same as everyone else. It’s not like they only started playing WoW because of MoP. Maybe you shouldn’t stereotype?

Wrong. There are at least maybe 100 or more Canthan looking characters people play as in the game (at least what I seen In TC and LA overflow). Its evidence enough that we should have the holiday. Why even have Canthan faces for Character creation and no festival? Lately we have been getting the rub and I don’t like it.
Also every Female Shining blade is Canthan. Don’t believe me? Look at them close up.
