I know this should be posted in the “merged cantha thread” but apparently my search function can’t find the thread anymore o.O

I read through quite a part of the cantha thread and i noticed one thing: People seem to forget/don’ know about the diversity cantha had. Cantha was not the typical only asian continent. I guess you all know about the Canthan, Kurzick and Luxon cultures? Take some time and check them out. why? Well you would notice that while classic Canthan (kaineng population) is indeed influenced a lot by the thought of an imperial asian culture the Kurzick go a very different path.
They actually take a huge amount of influence from the gothic culture both the actual artistic one and the gothic subculture we have. They are not organized like a empire, rather there structure resembles that of aristocratic households banding together under the “lead” of the strongest of them.
The Luxon on the other hand are more structured like a tribe. I didn’t spend much time at the Luxon side, because I always loved the Kurzick. But from what I know I would compare them to the nomadic culture of the Huns.
So if my historical memory is correct the asian culture were not so happy about either of the cultures, both the european gothic one and the nomadic huns. Same goes for the canthans.

I know that there is a shroud of mystery about what happaned in cantha, but we do know that there are kurzick and luxon rebells (of course there are… they are both proud cultures) and thus i don’t think that the modern cantha would some mashup of asian only cultures.

On a sidenote if you compare our world history to the one of Guild Wars, Tyria resembles Europe in more than one way. As Europe Tyria is a region that was torn by wars for a very long time and only recently started to settle things in a more diplomatic way than war.
