Hello,

i just bought the permanent Captain Airship Pass from the GS and i think its a really good purchase.

But, i was a bit appalled to the fact that this airship pass lacks 2 big points of convenience that would make this item not only a great purchase but also a must have for every player, which not only would help boost the sale of this item in the GS but also improve the dynamic of the game powered by this particular item.

So, please, i would suggest that:

1. After the permanent Airship pass is bought, a new icon would be included in the game UI, so that all characters owned by the player can use this service in a more direct way. Currently, it forces players to go deposit the pass in the bank, logout, login with a character, go to the bank and retrieve the pass.

2. After porting from an area to the Havoc, exiting the ship should port you back to the map area the player was in and not to Gendarran Fields.

As i just bought it, if im missing something here or if there is a particular reason why the pass should not function with the suggestions i gave , please let me know.

Thank you.
Love to all.

1. While I agreed at first with this, it really isn’t that hard to put it in the bank and transfer across. You’ll get used to it.
2. It isn’t a separate instance like the Home Portal Stone, so it wouldn’t port you back.

The ability to go back to where you were seems to be tied to the area not being a part of the regular PvE map.

Dungeons, instances, WvW, PvP. All these are separate from the PvE world and all can or will send you back to where you were standing in PvE.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

OK, so be it. But wouldnt you agree that my suggestions would make this item more appealing? I mean, im just making improvement suggestions and not trying to explain why it works the way it works…

If the airship pass was activated account wide by a hotkey I would buy one right now.

I don’t feel that the pass is really all that good of a deal if I have to micro-manage an inventory item across characters.

I really like the concept of a “VIP” area and an area with condensed convenience.

That’s what this purchase is, its buying convenience, however the convenience is countered with the inconvenience of managing the inventory ticket item. To me its a wash and not worth paying for.

I was going to buy it but decided against it because it didn’t really make sense to me after I read up on things.

The concept of convenience doesn’t make sense here.
For me the biggest reason to buy this would be to be able to access vendors/forge/trader/banker by instancing to the airship and exiting out to the very location where I initiated the instanced zone from.

So let’s say I’m standing in SW and i want to sell/trade, I fire off my pass, do what I have to do on airship and when I exit it, I am back in SW, at the exact location I was at. Now if I choose to talk to NPC on the ship to take me to some other major city then that’s that.

That would be a “convenience” for me. In the current state, after zoning into the instance, you are forced to zone to another. Why? What sense does it make? Why not zone to LA or some other major city instead?

Other than the fact that some vendors and stuff are in close proximity, how is this any different from zoning to some big city. On top of that it occupies a slot in the inventory.

So what I’m trying to find out is…where is the convenience factor?

All that you talk about you have in the pvp lobby so you dont need the airship pass.

No WP cost to zone to airs ship pass place to do what need from any place. Only one load screen. I do not have air ship but royal terrace that is almost same. It work great for me when I am out in world and done with thing or need to go do thing. Click pass I am in place to do bank trading post craft laurel vend guild bank mystic forge all close to the same place. All from one load screen and no WP cost. Then I WP to where I need or enter major city free and easy. I love this royal pass but hope they do not bring back because I do not want crowd there. Best thing bought beside copper machine.

For me, and I use the Royal Terrace Pass, the big convenience between it and LA (which no other place has a permanent handy MF) is proximity, and lack of models that affect load time and FPS.

It is still convenient in the saving of half the travel costs, as well. Well worth every Gem I paid for it (for me).

Same for me. When it first came out I thought it was kind of pointless. But I had heard about the convenience of it and then one day the Royal Terrace pass went on sale and I happened to have the gems, so I bought it. I love it now. When I’m out in the world and finish what I’m doing, I hit that and I’m in the Terrace, right next to everything I need. As a convenience item it’s been well worth it.

Here is what I do with royal pass in some order after out in world for some time. I die a lot so first visit armor repair. Then I use copper machine and salvage most stuff not rare or exotic. This give me many worthless rune so I put in mystic forge hope for some better. More mystic forge if I have rare or exotic. Craft station to make better luck I get from salvage with less click. Then TP sell anything worth it. Bank to put anything I want to keep in it or thing I need like foods. Then personal guild bank where I keep extra mats that do not fit in bank. By then bags are clean and I am fix and ready to go back in world. It work great for me. No WP cost to get there everything close and only one WP cost to get back to where I want or travel to all major city right there. I hope they do not bring royal terrace pass back because I like it quiet there.

You are still paying WP points to go back where you started from right? I mean, sure, no wp fee to get to it, but to get back to the zone or whatever you initiated it from, you are still using WP’s to get back right?

Agreed with the copper machine, only thing I’ve invested in and great investment.

Yes but usually when I use pass I am done with where I was. So I WP after done at royal terrace to some other place I would WP to any way. It still has convince of almost everything need in one close place. It is not good if you go every 5 minute to do thing. It is good at end of some time in world when need to take break and do many thing that is not so close or easy to get to in other maps. I do not try to sell this to any one just share why I like it. If what I describe is not good for anyone else that is fine.

PvP lobby does not have all thing that air ship or royal terrace have.

I dident say that either maybe see what I reply to.

I admit his first thing tho but only missing one of the things he want it the forge.

I got the DR version and never regretted it. Only one of my character uses it. The rest of my characters dump their stuff in my bank (via WvW or PvP), after which the one in DR cleans up everything (personal guild vault, champ bags, MF, Ascended material eaters, etc.)

For me, exiting to the zone below airship wasn’t a make or break deal. Can always just pull up map. Of course it would be nice if you were transported back to where u came from. Needing to transport the pass around bags of multiple characters isn’t the greatest, but for me that’s tied with a larger issue – lack of possibility to keybind items.

Only reason I bought the golden pass was basically just to have access to the crafting stations a little closer to wp than anywhere else for daily crafting. total convenience item. Wasn’t really thinking bout gem conversion etc. Plus I guess being able to access an area that not all could played into decision as well.

i also cant seem to accesss airship when im in heart of the mists, which makes me go through an additional loading screen to access it.

Is there any possibility this may change in the near future? Would really like to have a mod reply on this one.

Pretty sure passes are PvE-only. I doubt that will change any time soon. Also doubt you will get a Dev response on any up-coming feature-type changes. But, hope springs eternal!

Good luck.

It’s not quite return to point of origin, but remember that you don’t have to exit to Gendarren from the airship. If you talk to the helmsman (inside, towards the prow), you can go to any city.

TY.

Mods only moderate. They don’t have information on game feature and a Devs will never answer this sort of question. So you’ll have to make do with us, or have nothing.

Not being able to get from the Mists to the Airship/Terrace has to do with the mists being separate from the PvE maps where these areas are located.

From what I can tell exiting an area and getting back to where you were or using the pass in the Mists/WvW/dungeons depends on that place being separate from the main PvE world. WvW, sPvP, instances, dungeons. These all exist separately from the main PvE map and all will return you to the spot you left. The Royal Terrace and the Airship are blocked off to intruders but still exist in the main PvE map (you can still see people talking on that map chat). To make leaving the airship/terrace a “return to previous” will require work that has the game track, remember, and then mark down to remember as a spot to waypoint back to, when you move from one spot in PvE to another spot in PvE. PvE to instance then back again is easy because there are clear differences between those places.

1) Would be cool, but doesn’t bother me too much. Definitely not anymore now that you can log out up there. All of my crafting alts are parked up there now.

2) Since it isn’t an instance but rather an inaccessible area of the map (to those without tickets—aka plebs), there’s no real reason why you would get ported back to your previous zone. You’ve basically “waypointed” via ticket to Gendarran, and have to waypoint back. I find this to be in line with how the rest of the game works so I’m cool with it. I wouldn’t complain if they did change it, though.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.
