Is there a fixed schedule or cycle according to which the permanent Captain’s Airship Pass and Royal Terrace Pass are offered? I can’t tell whether these items are offered in the Gem Store regularly or at random. Any insight would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, I missed the one-day sale right before Wintersday started, when I could have purchased the Captain’s Airship Pass, and I have noticed, for the last week or so, there is actually a blank space in the Gem Store. (see also: attachment) Why not fill that blank space with the Captain’s Airship Pass?! Just a thought.

I don’t know if there’s a schedule. They do come back every so often but I’ve never paid attention to exactly when it is.

I’m surprised they didn’t bring them back after introducing the shared inventory slots though as I can imagine a lot more people would want them now.

Kind of, they have “seasons” that each are made available in. Just as many of the other removed items. There was a blog post a while back about the gem store inventory.

True, but can you imagine the outrage?

I mean people were already upset about the price of shared inventory spots (unjustly in my opinion, but that is a different matter). If arenanet had offered the permanent passes the same day/week there would have been enough people screeming pay to win nonsense.

On a more economic note though, maybe they wanted to see how the shared inventory space offer goes, then decide if the 1,000 gems are warrented any longer (both combined does provide access for all your characters meaning arenanet does incure a potential loss in gem sales). While I don’t hope for it, I could imagine they uping the price on the permanent passes (or hopefully the marketing team realises greed does not always more money make).

Mine shows the Nature’s Oath outfit, Hawk Wings and Mini Zintl Cavalier, then the Shared Inventory Slots, Black Lion Keys and Copper-fed Salvage-o-Matic, then the Snowflake Glider, Quaggan Mail Carrier and Metabolic Primer, which fills all the slots.

I wonder if it’s because some items disappear from the Gem Store when you’ve bought them, maybe if you’ve got one or more of the items that should appear on that list and which can only be bought once it creates a blank space.

They’d have to make it insanely expensive to match the gold price and the approximate cost of getting one from a chest, which would anger a lot of people who want one. But if they made it cheaper it’d anger all the people who bought one or got one to sell it.

I’ve always found the offers and time things come up for sale to be a bit random. But as the terrace pass has been up for sale not that long ago, I’d guess the air ship will be the next one at some point, maybe soon.

It certainly doesn’t need to match the current gold price which is clearly the result of market manipulation and extreme rarity, that is when the shared slot was purchased within minutes the TP was stripped all 22 of BAEs available by speculators who are re-offering it at unreasonable prices. Breaking that insane price is one clear reason to introduce this as a Gem Store item.

Another option would be to significantly increase the BLC drop rate so that the supply will drive the price down. It might also stimulate sale of BLC keys.

In any case it is absolutely ridiculous to have 22 of these available in a system that supports millions of users many of whom have shared inventory slots.

Supposedly part of the work on this game is to balance the economy. BAEs are a very clear example of something that is completely out of balance. The price is nowhere near any realistic assessment of the value of this item.

They both only appear RANDOM in the shop. That being said, sometimes their is logic to their appearance.

The most logical one is: wintersday each year (this and last one): both offered Royal Terrace cause it interacted with city of Divinity’s Reach. Same for ‘Gold Pavillion event’.

It appeared at other time, but it was very random.

Id’s say the downtime is about 3-6 months depending on Anet’s Schedule.

It wouldn’t anger all the ones that bought one previously or had one for sale. Maybe the few people who have one for sale at 3000 gold plus, but most of those bought cheap and re-listed high so I don’t have much sympathy if they were undercut.

I bought a permanent pass a long time ago. After I bought it I put a post on the Gem Store thread recommending it be a gemstore item, and again recently with the account bound slots I’ve recommended it. It’s far too useful an item to be restricted to a lucky or rich few and those who get angry by it being made easily available are not reasonable, imo.

That actually kind-of makes sense. I do have the Quaggan Mail Carrier and the Copper-fed Salvage-o-Matic; but I could’ve sworn I’ve seen them in the Gem Store since I purchased them. Still, maybe ArenaNet made a change that would take items you have purchased out of the list of items offered to you in the Gem Store. At least that makes more sense than having completely blank spaces in the Gem Store.

As to the permanent Bank Access and / or permanent Trading Post items, I understand why they’re not available in the Gem Store; but I would buy them if they were!!

ginryu, were I you I would keep an eye out this Tuesday, as that’s when the big patch hits. Included will be a new festival event in DR, so a pass may go on sale then.

I definitely will. I wouldn’t mind picking up the Royal Terrace Pass instead of the Captain’s Airship Pass. Really, either would suit me fine.
