I also have a boatload of commendations (~2000) and a donation packaging sitting in my bank, and am pretty disappointed to see this was removed with no warning or notice. If I had known it was getting removed entirely, I at least would have cashed in what commendations I had. Is this ever coming back or should I just destroy the commendations?

“Lionguard Lyns has returned to Lion’s Arch but no longer has Black Lion Keys available. Donations toward the rebuilding of Lion’s Arch will continue to be accepted until late February, at which time Lionguard Lyns must return to her normal Lionguard duties. To be fair, they posted notice in the patch notes in the announcement section of the forum about a month ago.

That said, I do think they should make an effort to make upcoming changes like this one more noticeable in the future, particularly because they seem very willing to use the forum announcement feature whenever it suits them.

I agree that the notice should have been clearer. I don’t always read the patch notes.

I would, however, notice if Lionguard Lyns had been saying something to me. “Hi there, going back to my regular duties soon!”
