Refund on purchase from the Gem Store?
why won’t you ever use them? that brings you up to 7 slots, which isn’t even one of each class.

Why would he get money back? the ‘error’ supposedly occurred while buying the character slots, which means he already had enough gems prior to that. If anything, he would be refunded the gems themselves.

I have 10 slots. I barely have time for 1, less for 10. I mean, yes, after maybe playing this game for 5 years Ill have 10 characters, but due to a simple lag problem I’ve bought something that I’ll never get to use.
If it were Boosts I wouldn’t be mad, eventually I could use them.
Imagine if you bought twice the Robot Salvage Kit, which is account bound. What’s the benefit?
If the character slots were purchased but never used, there really isn’t a reason for Anet to not refund the gems and remove the slot. They are just being greedy (as usual)
They probably are not able to at this time. Removing something like a character slot is very serious.

Well not really,
Op, I hope you do get your money back.

Me as well. It was almost 40 usd on something Ill never have the chance to use. Wish I had plenty of time to use them, but nope.
Problem is this discourages me from charging more money, because anything could happen and I know they wont help me or care.
Maybe is really complex to remove chars slots, but at least lie to me and say that. They actually said that rarely they make refunds. Im not even asking the money back, just the gems.
you already bought the gems to buy the amount of slots you did.
If anything you should get your gems back… but not your money.
they wont help me or care.

Perhaps you should post in the account support forum to see if you can get assistance with your issue. If you do make sure to include your ticket number and hopefully during the week Gaile will offer some assistance or at least be able to elaborate on why they cannot provide a refund. If you do so there will probably be a few regulars respond to your post but just wait for Gaile for an official answer.

Im gonna try this, thanks for the suggestion
They are not allowed =/= they don’t care.
They have a policy that there are no refunds of gems because a majority of refund requests were from people who “changed their minds”.
In my job there are a lot of things too I cannot do even though I could, because it would create a precedent and then people would abuse it.
“but you refunded gems to this guy so why not me?”
Some things are just everyone or nobody.
That’s why you don’t keep pressing the button until something happens. When you’re waiting for the elevator, pressing the button repeatedly won’t make it come any faster – but that doesn’t stop people from doing it. The habit gets carried over into online activities, where there is a buffer that holds all those button presses and while it still won’t make things happen any faster, when it empties it will actually apply all those clicks.
When buying something, you click the “Buy” button once and wait. Failure to do so means you’ll be getting fifteen copies of the same book from Amazon or something. Most people figure this out pretty quickly.
As for why they won’t refund the gems, it’s standard policy. They cannot tell whether you made a mistake or just changed your mind. If they started doing refunds like that then they would be swamped with people who made a mistake, changed their minds, realized the item wasn’t as cool as they thought it was, or just got tired of playing with something and want their gems back. On top of losing money from refunding gems Anet would be paying for more CS personnel to handle the additional tickets.
It just doesn’t make sense for Anet to pay for your carelessness. Now, in specific cases if you can get it reviewed by a supervisor they may have the authority to give you a refund, but I’d imagine you’d need a good reason for it and they wouldn’t do this for the same person twice.

I bought CHAR SLOTS, I didn’t buy something cosmetic or something I used and didn’t like.
I think it’s quite different. I DO understand what you’re saying, but in all honesty it’s not something you can dislike and request refund.

And yet you did exactly that.
I have sixteen character slots. Even if you don’t use them now, someday they’ll come in handy, and now you know not to keep clicking the “buy” button.

If this happened to me, happened to a lot of people. Most people might not care, but I do. Therefore I’ll be spreading unconsciously a negative message and experience about buying something from the Store, which will lead to no more charging money for me.
I might be only 1 person, but there are others who had the same experience.
I know for sure I’m not charging any more money into this game. Now I know if I make a mistake, which always happens, Anet won’t care, will ignore me and laugh with my money.
I already know that I will never have 10 characters, because I lack the time to do so.
Thanks for your input anyway. Despite what you think, won’t stop from complaining and spreading the lack of support I had from Anet.

Nothing ever stops anyone from complaining.
$ lost from dissatisfied customers < $ saved by not having to hire 200% more CS workers. Anet is okay with that.
I dont know this would be like me going to mcdonalds buying 3 cheese burgers and deciding I only wanted 1 cheeseburger. Think if I come back with the other 2 and say here dont want this i mistakenly bought them that they will refund me?
No.
Its convient online to blame lag. But as a person online often you should know that you should never multi click something especially when dealing with items.
its not their lack of support its your lack of attention to detailed and patience. It is policy not to do something not becuase of bad support but because its something people would abuse and would cost anet money. Thats bad business. So be a better customer and stop blaming a company, just because you made a mistake and didn’t get your way.
I have always had great support from them.
Then Ill keep complaining. Until I get banned or until I get my Gems back.

You wont get either. Your just wasting your time. Have fun with that though…. like a little kid that didn’t get his way and thinks throwing a fit will solve the problem eyeroll

When life hands you lemons… throw them at random passers by. Have fun!

Not wasting my time. Have plenty for this. And ill keep doing it.
as an altholic the thing is when you click to buy a slot it also asks you to confirm that’s on every time you pick to buy a spare slot so, you have two clicks every time for 1 slot .
each time it deducts the gems . so either you were just clicking all the time till your gems were exhausted so 10 times for the 5 slots I think you will not get a refund just my view btw

Plenty for this but not to use the character slots. Well, everyone needs a hobby…

I don’t understand. If lag caused someone to click ‘buy’ several times, does only one ‘confirm’ click confirm all those buys? Or does the lag cause the confirm button to not show up, and you inadvertently click an invisible ‘confirm’ button? If so, they might want to put some kind of delay-mechanic in there, or something. I don’t think it’s entirely the consumer’s fault when the screen doesn’t respond. Or maybe a warning, that if you see no confirm button do not continue to click, or if you see no change to your gem amount. Something. Im not saying people shouldn’t be aware that lag can happen, but if it just suddenly comes up, and you aren’t a usual purchaser at the gem store, odd things can happen.
Now, I can see where there are most likely no tools to remove character slots without a rollback; maybe they should make them like bank slots, and send them as an item. Then, the item can be destroyed if not used. Food for thought.

We cannot remove character slots, it’s that simple. It’s like buying a car with air conditioning. The upgrade isn’t removeable. I am sorry that you purchased too many, but there isn’t a way for us to remove them, and therefore we obviously cannot offer you a refund.
We do have a confirmation process in place to prevent unintended purchases, as mentioned above. And I’m pretty there there’s a warning about not clicking multiple times. I’m sorry if you ended up with more than you intended.
