I have a question about how Anet keep using casino type gambling for holiday and event items in the gem store.

Personally I think especially at christmas time to use this business model is scummy and disgracefull but whatever, locking out players to buy them on the trading post was another nice scummy touch to rip off players as much as possible. Good job on that.

My question is simple. Will you be doing this on every single holiday and special event?

Please tell us all before the next one so I can leave the game and add Anet to my list of scummy gaming company’s.

P.S. i have not and never will participate in gambling for skins, mini’s or anything else you wish to make up and lock into account bound to stop anyone from getting it any other way than gambling there money away….

The boxes are way better than the Halloween ones:

• Weapon skins can be got in-game, or bought for gems
• Quaggan mini can be made by combining the festive mini’s and Wads of Stuffing
• These also drop throughout the world (I got 1 in about 3 hours gameplay)
• The only things that are exclusive are the tonics and mortars.

Hardly ‘scummy’ if you can get the stuff in the chests in-game as well.

You are sadly mistaken. Also this time noone has any way of getting them on trading post, they restricted it.

first, this should probably be listed under wintersday.

second, I think this event was handled a lot better. You can spend money in the cash shop if you want, but there is PLENTY of stuff for people to get and do without spending a dime.

Pretty sure the weapon skins you could get from a vendor for Ugly Socks ect. There’s also skins in the gem shop you can buy for 500 gems.

Quaggan mini can be created by combining 3 festive mini’s and 50 wads of stuffing in the MF

Skins and minis have swapped place.

Halloween: Skins as rare gambling drop, minis bought outright. Skins can be traded.
Wintersday: Skins are bought outright, minis are gambling drop. Worse, minis are account bound so no trading.

Same problem, different set of players impacted.

The quaggan mini is double RNG – either you need good ingame luck, or you need super cash shop luck to get 6 minis so you can craft it.

You are. You have two sets of skins, the gem shop skins (wooden weapons) and the events skins (toy weapons).

You also have the 3 gem shop chest minis and the 4 or 5 event minis. You can ONLY use the gem shop chest minis to create the Quaggan mini.

You can’t get the gem shop skins from any gift or regular ingame reward. It’s different with the Quaggan, as it CAN be in the regular gifts, but with a chance of less than 1:10.000.

Apologies, I was mistaken on this. Thought minis were guaranteed and Quaggan was RNG.

You can get skins either from the gem shop or in-game (albeit, my fault for not making it clear that I meant two different skin types).

You can get the wooden weapons for free from unsafe wintersday gift.

No, you can’t. Unsafe winter gifts will only contain the toy skins, not the wooden skins.

No one uses minis so I don’t see what the fuss is even about over them.

My only “gambling” complaint is the perma-bank access. However this will remain in the game and isn’t really a Wintersday BLTC issue. It’s just an overall “Gambling” issue. Gambling fine, but being able to manipulate chances at any time without relaying that info to the consumer is, indeed, scummy.
