Cast start during a jump
Part of the skill required in this game is when to use skills and when you might have to interrupt them to dodge or jump. It’s called strategy. Learn fights, get a feel for timings and this won’t be an issue.
Oh my God … I think you exaggerate calling the flaws of the game mechanics as tactical necessity. A jump after the start of casting does not require any special skills.

Jump casting breaks the game. It all of a sudden shakes up balance allowing skills like withdraw and lightning reflexes to jump over huge gaps. You can also jump heart seeker to get on top of the big rocks on Forest. These are just a few examples that are currently out there that show some issues with jump casting. That being said, It would be an interesting mechanic it would be nice to cast skills mid air like a block or an invuln, this would also help with the mid air immob problem. How much time do we want them to spend fixing all the holes in the game though?

Actually skills which shadowstep you draw their path when you’re on the ground, other skills likely do this same thing when deciding if you can “hit” something. This is why you need to be in contact with the floor when starting an action.

Then why not prohibit the use only skills with movement while jumping, but allow simple offensive skills?
