I don’t do many fractals since the patch but “casual pug” would describe me perfectly.
I’m too long in the tooth to let another casual pug rile me in chat, and in GW2 that sort of behaviour is rare, but it does amuse me when someone starts ranting about the pugs in the party, as if they are not also a pug.

I agree with you Doc. That’s why i didn’t waste time on the dude like the first guy suggested on this post. However, surfing through the forums earlier something just urged me to post about it, i guess.

So what? Do you need safe space from the mean people that are telling the truth? Oh boy, you’re so perfect, you have a LIFE! Who would have knew? We all have lives, we all have families (part of or our own), the majority of us either study or work. And guess what? Not all of those are casuals.

If your time must be divided between a videogame, a job and a child, then set your priorities. That videogame should be the lowest on the list. I never understood this pathetic argument. I’m bad at the game because I have a wife, child, job, A LIFE, thus you are a no-lifer useless keyboard warrior.

News flash. You don’t need to play 24/7 to be good at this game, which, is in itself casual compared to the majority of titles, online or offline. But I guess you are so bad that if someone is able to facetank the new archdiviner on a zerker mesmer you think he is a no lifer. Why didn’t you say it to that person in game? Afraid? Aren’t you also a keyboard warrior by threatening others over the internet with violence? Let me guess, in real life you are a promoter of “tolerance and acceptance”.

You were bad, but your fragile ego cannot accept the truth, it haunts you so bad and you go on the forums making a useless topic acting like some sort of though guy. Grow up, kid and git gud.

While I do agree with you, the attitude is really unappealing. Honestly Like Lux said the game is casual so there is no reason for people to act like… Lux xD.

At the same time the one resounding point I agree with him/her on is, why did you not just say it in game. Why bother coming here and posting something like this? If you have an issue with another player take it up with him or her.

You casuals are more toxic then the elitist.

Some are, but that’s alot less likely then the other way around… Casual plays for fun, isn’t worried about performance. Elitist want’s everything to run just perfectly how he expects… Which one is more likely to call the other out and start an issue like the one we have here?

If you don’t want to hear how others feel about the issue, why post here to talk about it? You are going to get responses from both sides. As far as Lux’s post goes; yes I agree his post was basicly a PERFECT example of the horrible attitude.

But be honest, is your first post the picture of a calm, rational, good attitude?

If you’re posting about it a day after the fact, and having a thread about it, you’re letting the guy get under your skin. Just acknowledge that there are people you don’t want to play with and move on. He doesn’t care how you respond to his “casual pug” comment, (and probably isn’t even aware of this thread,) and you’re wasting energy on something that doesn’t matter.

Personally, I always put “casual” or “friendly” or something in dungeon/fractal LFGs, so I avoid the “speedrun, must stack”-types. They can play how they want, and I just enjoy the run my way. No fuss, no pain, no judging, no arguments.

I never claimed to be a calm, rational, good attitude type. No my original post didn’t resemble that and i didn’t intend for it to. Like i said earlier…i just wanted to get a plain and simple message across. I didn’t care for a response or opinions, although the good ones are always appreciated!

I’m not perfect..but i sure as hell would never treat someone in a negative way because they don’t know every aspect of a video game, my 9 yr old cousin does that when he plays CoD. I guess i’ve learned a good lesson here. Definitely not posting anything like this again lol

I know a lot of people who have all this and also are a very good players. Are you trying to use the “no life” kitten here?

There’s always this one guy with his “oo you’re so special with your life” comment. It seems to me that when people say that they have other things in their life besides video games then that really gets under some people’s skin and prompts them to write a comment like that.

Edit: Playing 2h a day might seem super casual to you Lux but by real life standards that’s already hard-core. The 10h gaming sprees some people pull should’nt be called hard-core, it should be called pathological behaviour

When did I say it justified it? maybe I should clarify, when I said “in the normal range” I meant in comparison to some things that are said, there’s no curseing, racial slurs, long drawn out insulting, threats of violence etc; just “casual pug”.

However not once did I say it was right or acceptable, infact I have said numerous times that I dislike the negativity and bad attitudes.

If someone doesn’t play “perfectly” then rub it off your shoulders OR leave the party/group instantly.

If you instead prefer to call them names (regardless of how “tame” they may be) then be prepared to be called an a22hole or garbage afterwards.

each person has their own version of “hard-core” and “casual”. frankly, i wish i had more free time to spend however i please; the fact that some choose to play games in it doesn’t automatically mean that something’s wrong. if they choose to spend 40 hours playing video games than its their choice; there’s certainly worse ways to spend time…

As to the topic, just continue being you & let them be them. in this context, the only ability anyone has is words & whatever power they have over you is given only by you. so rock your casual/non-casual/hard-core/no life/ zomgburstingfullofsomuchlifeimmadie/insert whatever label self man… flaunt it.

Agreed. We once did a dungeon run with 4 guildies and when one of us didn’t stack where they should stack a pug we had swiftly pointed out that “he should use his brain”.
I would have kicked him right there, and I should have, but my GF told me to be nice so I was and told him to F himself instead

Self righteous brats that think that their way is the only way need to be shown their place swiftly, especially if they pull that in a guild run.

Maybe you should have told him this in game.

I agree with this sentiment.

No one is a villain in their own head, so the likelyhood of anyone on the forums matching the OP’s call-out and actually considering their point is minimal at best. Calmly confronting the original person aggravating you is likely to lead to a more constructive solution… even if that solution winds up being blocking that player.

Also, the OP is a rage post… and no one responds well to rage posts. They’re too aggressive, often offensive, and due to being emotional they lack solid reasoning… generally speaking.

P.S. Though I hope the opportunity to vent has helped the OP calm down.

Seems to me like a fact, if he had been better at the fractal, nobody would have spoken, which is how most pugs run. In complete silence.
No idea where your victim blaming rant is coming from.
maybe if we see it as a genuine question : are you a casual pug?
Then it changes everything.
I ran Cliffside the other day with two people who had no idea, the leader explained every step, was refreshing.
Maybe the guy the op is talking about wanted to help.

Blame Abaddon, he loves your tears.
pve, raid, pvp, fractal, dungeon, world clearing, legendary questing.. Zapped!

When offering help it’s best to start on a neutral ground, or even positive. Calling someone “casual pug” is probably not going to open up the best of dialogues. It’s not the worst thing he could say, but it may still be offensive (Which in this case it was).

The guy could have said “Hey is everyone ok doing this fight this way (explain)”

Ok let me use my example again to illustrate my point to you (btw you really need to learn to differentiate between a rant and a normal discussion)

If you wear a burka then the chances of you getting kitten d are much lower. Now if a woman wore a very short skirt and did get kitten d, will we then say that she shouldn’t have worn the skirt?
Same applies here. Yes his different play style probably did bring about the comment but that does not justify the comment. You cant seriously say that you should just play better and consider that as a solution. That’s just blaming the victim for the incident.

The fact is that there is no rule that you need to play in a specific manner. If the person who got mad was expecting a quick run but didn’t get one then he just needs to readjust his expectations. Going into random LFG groups and then telling them how to play in an aggressive manner (or just calling them names) is not OK and should even result in an a swift kick from the group in my eyes.

Please don’t take offense at that pic, though. I’m sitting in the cubicle beside it.

I just like being silly.
