Okay, I’ve been playing this game since it came out, albeit with a long break for about a year and a half, but I still remember when Orr was even worse than it is now and impossible to solo.

That being said, I think it may be time to either have a serious look at the Balthazar event chain, or simply remove the Skill point at the Cathedral of Victory. I feel like I am being punished for actually trying to complete Straits of Devastation solo, when I am sitting here after having tried for over three hours to complete the quest line for temple of Balthazar, and every single time it has failed either because we did not have enough people, or the npcs died so fast that we failed the morale mission.

Anet, please, make it so we can actually complete Straits solo, without having to wait hours or days for the Cathedral to be clear.

If you’re a thief or can get a thief to do it with you you should make it without the temple being open.
Here’s how: Run to the Skillpoint, don’t fight anything and stay together. The thief then uses shadow refuge on the SP while you interact with it – it lasts long enough to get a SP – but it might be that you’ll get hit by a meteor shower, in that case: try again.

Edit: Or the thief can also use blinding powder shortly before you’re at the SP and then SR right after that while you’re still stealthed so the mobs and meteors don’t have a clue where you are.

Not sure why the temple of Balthazar is so difficult?

I have opened this multiple times in a day.
With about 15 people bringing Stunlock (fears, knockdowns, interrupts, ice bow – skill 5, point blank shots. Etc etc ) skills for vet subjs and a couple of heals for the pact it is really a quite simple.

Balthazar is regularly being opened by players a lot more than it used to be as they have begun to understand the mechanics involved to make a successful push to the top.

If the event is open put a LFG out for more people and get taxis into the map and it should get completed reasonable easily.

@TPMN I said it today in an other thread: I transfered to EU from NA 3 months ago and have seen the event succeed 3 times since then. For some reason it doesn’t work over here and I just come from another failed attempt – so.. maybe it’s not that easy for everybody.

You do know its 4-6 am in eu right not many people play at this time

And: We’ve been around 15, so it shouldn’t have failed, I’ve done the event with less people.

Why do you assume that I don’t know what time it is in the EU when I’m on an EU server? Makes no sense.

You were on a na server hence shouldent you be a resident of na first and formost?

Don’t know if this helps but I’m a EU player on NA

One of the crazy ways I manage to persuade people to come along is the amount of insane crazy drops that is there due to all the mobs. I’m usually getting about 5-7 rares from the entire chain in about 30mins and about 10-15 T6 mats. This is a side effect of MF around 280%.
(This really puts dungeons to shame )

Honestly a couple of Eles with ice bows is more than sufficient to ensure this event wins.. Ice bow skill 5 on vet subj, the nice storm is down.. Swap to staff – water magic to heal NPCs, then back to fire magic.

If you also go to the NPC near the giant you can get all those free grenade kits (got to love the bee grenades). This can really help the push as they just melt the NPCs.

Sometimes it’s easy with a party of 5 who are fully trained for major DPS- the reason is simple : No vet subjs will spawn.

Sometimes less is more.
