First, it really sucks that you can’t buy celestial gear, but that’s not what this post is about. Is celestial gear viable for all classes? I main a revenant and a mesmer and i’d like to see more weapon variety usage from both of them without feeling like i’m missing out because of ‘wrong’ stats. While i tend to go for more supportive or tanky roles, i like the flexibility that celestial gear offers (i have yet to craft celestial gear but i want to). Is it worth the effort of levelling up a craft to max level to make celestial gear or should i stick with something like cleric?

Not sure what you mean with weapon variety. You can use any stat with any weapon. If its a kittenty one celestial isnt going to help.

Otherwise, yes. Celestial is viable for everyone. Do you need the timegated armor and weapons? Hahahahaha… no. Get cheap and quick celestial trinkets then slap whatever you want on top. Rabid + celestial, marauder + celestial, etc etc and so on.

Celestial is viable for every profession.

Celestial is also a very long and/or expensive project because of both the time gating of making charged quartz, and because of the limited availability of nodes which nudges one to the TP to make up the difference.

I use Celestial, and I like using it. I’m a build-a-holic, so it makes it simpler for me to test out an idea w/o having to buy/craft a bunch of new equipment every time an idea sparks in my brain. I’m currently working on making ascended celestial everything… a project that is going to take me well into next year to complete. For me also, I think if one is to do celestial, then one might as well go whole-hog for ascended, which is why I’m crafting so much of it right now.

Whether it’s exotics or ascended, my advice is don’t start celestial until you are 100% sure you want to do it. For me that decision took a couple months of pondering… but I am happy with my decision to craft it.

No, it’s not worth the time, effort, and expense of leveling one or more crafting disciplines to 400 for exotic celestial or 500 for ascended celestial.

There are, however, lots of other reasons to reach 400 or 500 in each discipline. If you care about those other things, you have the time, and the coin, by all means: max your crafting. (I am deliberately not mentioning the other reasons, on the basis of: if you have to ask, they aren’t worth it…yet.)

You don’t say what game mode you’re playing, and I can’t speak for WvW or PvP, but for PvE yes, celestial is fantastic. My ele, guardian, engie, and rev are all full celestial.

Granted I enjoy the hybrid, mixed-support, non-twitch style of gameplay. One thing you will find when crafting a set of celestial is that the full benefit is accumulative. Meaning: half a set of celestial feels terrible. Two-thirds a set feels better. A full set is amazing. Because of the stat spread, the closer to 100% celestial you get, the better it works. At least in my experience.

For like 95% of the player population 6 pieces of celestial armor is BiS.

whether they are new/inexperienced, casuals, glass cannons or players who just don’t know what they want to run from month to month, those 6 slots as celestial offer all 4 offensive stats while also giving a minimum amount of defensive stats that will alleviate a lot of “1 shots” while also providing some healing power to help bring it back from the edge of death. Just tailor the trinkets and weapons with those 6 armor pieces in mind.

I view celestial gear as the casual end-game gear to go for.
It’s not for the min/max type of people, but people who just want a set that serves all gameplay and roles fine.

It IS somewhat annoying how much of a grind it is, especially for just the exotic version, but that’s how I view celestial.

The accessories are the easiest to get since you just need laurels so go for those first. Also the Bloodstone back piece in Bloodstone Fen is somewhat easy to get too for a back piece you can put celestial on.

I use it cause I’m lazy, and on my Guardian, I think I can use most of the stats effectively, and for runes I just use one that increases all stats as well (I use travellers cause I like the run speed and boon duration boosts).

Alright thank you everyone for your feedback. I guess i have to start the grind from now but i’m up for it if it’ll make my gameplay feel much better. And yes it is for PVE and i’m a casual player too.
