I know it was intended to demote the Plains of Ashford, Caladon Forest, Metrica Province, Queensdale, and Wayferer Foothills champions.

Was it intended to demote the Gendarran Fields champions also? There used to be two champions at Brigantine Isles (now an elite & Veteran), two at Blood Hill Camps (now two veterans), two at Overlook Caverns (now only one and an elite), and two at Northfields (now only one and an elite).

Is this a bug or is there plans to return it back? Or is this the new Gendarran Fields?

I assume the intent was not to simply shift the champ-train from one zone to another…

You seem to have missed the previous changes to Champion events where they’re now dynamically scaled in enemy “ranks.” Take the former champ bandit in weeniedale as an example. The event would clearly state it’s a “Champion blablabla” but it would have spawned as a mere veteran. As more people show up, it would scale to an elite, and finally a champion. I suspect the same thing is occurring with champions in Gendarren Fields. Alternatively, you may be talking about Champions that had no corresponding event. In which case, no, they’re no longer champions in any shape/form.

tolunart, I have been doing the GF champ run before the QD champ run began as that was the first champ run I found out about. So I am not just simply shifting locations.

Aidan Savage, Yup I never saw a update or release note that mentions being able to “rank” an elite to a champion. That does not mean it doesn’t exist. I just have not seen anything about it. Just what toons type in map chat.

Another note I forgot to add to the original post was that the “supply cart’s” have also undergone a “nerfing”. They used to drop tin, coal, foods, and threads when you destroy them. Now they provide nothing

I’m talking about the other 250,000 players who ran the QD champ train 24/7.

Gendarran fields had its champs demoted in the April patch. I don’t remember seeing it in the notes, but I do remember seeing it before the May patch. On the plus side it makes getting the rich iron node near the spider easier as a solo player, but it effectively ends what could have been a good alternative champ train.

That’s certainly not possible. After all, Anet did promise us never to mess with drops without mentioning it in the patch notes.

There are still champs in Gendarran that do not scale with player numbers. These are: the spider at Almuten Estates, the troll in the cave in Shiverspur Front, the risen abomination in the Lawen Ponds, the centaur in the caves in Talajian Piedmont. The Warbiest, although it is fightable only after the “Prevent the Centaurs from capturing Nebo Terrace” event failed. I’m not sure about Captain Wiley who used to be a champ too.

It is 100% possible! I have tried it with multiple toons and none of them received drops from the carts anymore. Try it and see, it’s the group of carts in Blood Hill Camps south of the WP east of the Renown Heart. I was there with some guildys new to the game. Showing them how to get tin, coal and thread with out buying it from a vender. Granted they are low level items and not primordium. None of my guildys received any drops either. There were 6 of us so it was not just my account / software.

Now it could be they never meant for the carts to drop items. They have been doing it since release though. I always felt it was a unique way of adding random loot drops. It made sense that a “supply cart” would have supplies!!

I understand the reasoning for demoting the 1-17 level map champs. I don’t agree with it. It was a way before, megaserver, to get toons in otherwise vacant maps. I’m fine with it since I preferred Gendarran Fields champs anyway.

As posted I noticed changes to Gendarran Fields, The champ demotions and the cart drops removed. I did not see Gendarran Fields in Patch notes or Game updates and wanted to know if this was a bug, intended or an accident. Leave the champs “nerf’d” if they must but at least bring back the cart drops! It added a fun unique experience to the game on par with other mmorpgs.

Sorry, i do believe you, that was sarcasm aimed at Anet. I didn’t believe that promise the moment it was made, anyway, and it has been broken many times since.

Agreed. A little too much removal of what we, the players, call fun just because we are not playing the way they want. I thought we were supposed to be able to play they way we want? And get drops!

I remember in guild wars 1 when I made toons just to hold all my drops because they were so plentiful. It’s a game players want loot! Loot i s50% of your basic rpg!

It goes like this: Find bad guy, kill them, get loot (and XP), sale / trade /upgrade repeat.
And there you have 99% of all rpgs / mmorpgs.

Anyway, since anet hasn’t commented I am assuming the carts are hosed along with champs. bummer!

I remember when you got loot off the carts in Queensdale. Then, long, long ago that stopped. Long ago.

Then, just last week or so, I was in Gendarran (I believe…somewhere where there are carts and Centaurs…not QD), and helping out on a Heart or event, and lo and behold, my Guildie and I were getting loot off the carts! So, not all loot from carts has been removed.

There was a champion reef skelk on Southsun that was degraded to elite too. This wasn’t just about the Champ trains, it was about loot in general, and it was yet another loot nerf.

You watch, EoTM will be next. Run it while you can Bobs and Gorillas!
