I know, scaling and all….but seriously? Veteran hatchlings already crossed the line, but this is ridiculous. How is an undead hatchling a champion right out of the undead egg? That makes no sense…this shouldn’t exist.

P.S. It didn’t even drop a loot box…or anything, for that matter! Unacceptabllllleeee!

Unfortunately not many do. I talk satirical crap at my screen when I see this jive. But I’m used to MMOs being “living worlds” back before they had prettier graphics. Others however… Like perhaps 96% of everyone plays the game for the farming “yay stuff” factor don’t care it’s supposed to be an RPG.

I mean the riots in Southsun Cove awhile back (Linving Story event) consisted of fighting settlers. Helpless refugees that is. It had a nice realistic feel to it. Almost like the game had lore for a moment… Until a Champion Settler walked out… I mean really? So a champion HOBO in all his/her funky rags is killing all these fully armored heros solo? Yeah… And an undead baby champion spider. Trust me. the game is what it is. But unfortunately NOT what it isn’t and should be. But I’m mostly alone in my views these days.

I just play it. I do hope the writers of the lore that gets trashed by those who implement it in to the game still have their fun, and maybe someday find a dev team that takes their ideas seriously…

Champ spider hatchlings became a thing around April of ’13 when they redid a bunch of things in Orr. Pretty common sight in TC Orr, particularly when Dolyak-Jofast farming had some popularity.

Also, in my experience they do drop loot including champion bags.

It had been acknowledged as a bug, in both senses of the word.

Personally, I don’t want it fixed. It was great having 20+ people fight it for over 20 mins, knowing we were getting no loot at the end of it. It was just funny.

In my experience all champs from upscaled mob waves in cs drop champ boxes. (Maybe not if they came directly from a risen spider, not sure about that)

In fact a couple weeks ago we were making sure to upscale that wave of spiders during jofast escort, to get those champs to spawn and get the bags.

Veteran Novice is part of a grand tradition of video game naming conventions which are completely logical to a computer or in a database and complete nonsense in practice.

GW1 was great for this, with drops like ‘Fire staff of water magic’ being very common.

And on the other side you could get a ‘fiery fire staff of fire magic’. (It does fire.)

It’s just video game logic. The same kind that says that bats occasionally carry around plate armor, skeletons can bleed, fire elementals can be poisoned, you can fit 80 greatswords into your backpack, and if you ever need four spider legs you have to kill 37 spiders to find them.

Skeletons do bleed. Bone marrow is where your red blood cells are produced. In a sense your skeleton is always bleeding.

Source? If it’s a bug, like I said, it’s been around for well over a year. And the ones I’ve fought most certainly do drop champ bags.

Anet should add additional trophy items to these mobs, and incorporate these post into their descriptions.

Veteran novice is kinda amusing, however a Novice is actually a rank. Its the rank of one who has entered a religious order and is on a probabtionary period before taking vows and becoming a full member….just saying :P

Although it was in another game, my favorite drop was a “Frying pan”. It was a rare item. And it was exactly that. A frying pan. The stats were god awful but it was fun smashing mobs in the face with a frying pan. They also had a “Fiery Sword of Ice” which I found amusing. It had a flaming skin and did ice damage. Thats video game logic for you.

Mama boss, why hatchling no champion?

The thing with the apple falling and the tree and distance?

Come on, that’s the oldest thing in the genre. From kill 10 rats because someone needs their ears to the mega boss that is sitting in his lair where he can always be found while taking over the world, conveniently just waiting for you and 39 others to show up.

“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
