So does the Boss at the end of the Maw event personally drop anything anymore?

Prior to the Feature patch he would almost always drop a rare or two after we defeated him, in addition to the Glorious Chest that spawns. Now since the patch I have never been able to loot anything from him personally.

I assume the number of people who do the event is the problem as there are literally hundreds of people pummeling him and yes, I do attend the event during NA prime-time. I have taken all 5 of my Lev. 80s to the event and none have received anything. I do always get a Gold event completion though.

So is anyone getting any drops from him anymore?

Yes, yesterday I got a drop and I was really surprised. That was the first time after the Megaserver-Patch, so my damage output was good yesterday ^^

are you talking about the daily boss bouncy chest on the screen? I never got any drops “from” maw prior to patch.

There have been quite a few people not recieving the daily chest from various bosses. I myself havent experienced it unless I took a lower than level 80 alt there.

I would advise partying up before the boss spawns. Just get to map and write lfg please. And party up. I’m always in a party when I do these bosses.

I think we talk about the champ bag and normal loot from the shaman. Since he is a champ he drops personal loot, however not all the time.

Before the patch he dropped maybe in 2 out of 3 fights for me, after the patch .. not sure of i ever get a drop.

I am not talking about the:
Glorious Chest that spawns on the ground near him or
The Daily bonus chest that shows up on the lower right side of your screen

I am talking about the Mob Loot drop directly from the Champion Shaman Chief himself.

He does, but it is very hard to do enough damage these days.

anyway, point stand. party up. If you’re in a party, you and your party members are more likely to get loot.

Yep—patch screwed up regular drops/made them much more difficult to get.
Got one last night by not helping with ice brood portals, just starting hitting the shaman as soon as I could target and didn’t stop to rez anyone. I’ve read in other threads party up(as other have said) and/or don’t bother stopping to rez others since that time spent rezing may be just enough to stop you from getting in enough damage to get boss chest (like MAW).

The zergs are just too big now and unless you are trying to get event achievements for daily, there are plently of people to do the pre event.

thanks to this two things its almost imposible to get reward to this chemp. This is 1-15 map, I play there with my low level alt (with blue and green items). How can I do enough dmg with such a characker?

Anet please, at least don’t be proud about megaserver. I know you have to use megaserver to save monay, but don’t say that you did it to help us, and you are proud of it. Look at this thread for example how much it help us.

Yes, the Svanir Shaman used to drop loot and still does IF you cause enough damage.
I used to always get it, now only sometimes get it.

EDIT: That imo is a small reward for the players that are not only auto attacking the boss, but still kinda unfair since only high power builds will get the drop.

Yes, I just did him yesterday and got the regular drops. Are you sure you’re not trying to loot on a character that has already looted from him that day? You can only get loot once per day per character.

BTW – Funny co-incidence. My latest picture in my blog is of us taking the Shaman down yesterday

He drops stuff: a blue/green, some coins, plus a steel chest (rarity seems to be random). You must make enough damage to him in order to get those. If you are alone, you can’t. That’s why you want to form a 5-man party to attack him. With a full party, I got them all the time.

Rarity depends in your damage, so it depends on the other players around you, if they cause high DPS you’ll need higher DPS to get better chest.

Killing the Svanir Shaman nets three items:

1. Daily Bonus Chest (the shaking one above your mini map) – This one is once per day per account.

2. Daily Boss Chest (the big one that spawns in a set location on the ground) – This one is once per day per characters.

3. Champion Loot Chest (the one that you loot from his body or the small chest that spawns where he died) – This one is available every time you kill him, but is dependent upon the undocumented tagging rules. There is a lot of conjecture as to how these rules work, but nothing is confirmed. It is commonly believed that doing either a lot of DPS or the first DPS will increase your chance to get this item. If you have a full map zerging the boss, expect that this chest will not drop for you.

None of my chars are running berserker builds and I am usually doing that event solo as my guildies do Teq at that time instead so i guess that explains where the loot drop went then.

Maybe I will adjust my build to do more damage and see what results.
Will also try PUG and see what happens

Not sure if it is really the damage or if there is also some hidden limit of who tags him first. At least today i ran to him after doing some damage on the first portal and got again loot this time. Damagewise i was playing with my warrior with longbow so of course not the highest damage you can do.

All the time. It’s just the return of the old tagging problem for world bosses, that is caused by megaserver quality zerging.

I always get body loot from the Maw event.

I am really missing that white champ box he always used to give me, siiiigh. Have really only been doing world bosses when I happen to be on the map at the time, the zergs are just too big for it to be fun anymore. Did do dwayna with 5-6 other people early last Sunday morning, that was really fun.

Tips:

Melee it instead of spamming 1 on a ranged weapon

Make a party, type lfg in say chat or just party random people. You dont even have to talk, its likely out of a large group you can get 4 to join

Use Zerker gear, as you should be anyway as its a world boss.

Use a 50copper or under food or potion to add damage

Use Sigil of Force and Sigil of Accuracy/Air during the actual boss fight.

Stack Bloodlust Or Accuracy in the pre events and moa’s

The first two I say has absolutely no bearing on this as like I said I get body loot every single time I do Maw and I’m a SOLO RANGER using longbow and spider.

So I took my Elementalist to Maw this time.

Setup:

• She is in Exotic Carrion armor
• I did not group up with a party
• I am not running Zerker gear as this is a World Boss and not susceptible to Criticals
• I was not using any consumables
• As normal I used all my skills not just spam #1
• Used an Ascended Staff only

So nothing different than usual with that stuff but I did make a change.

I did not res anyone and I ignored the Portal PreEvent (that IS different than usual).

Result: Got a box drop again.

Conclusion: So it seems that by ignoring my fallen comrads and not contributing to the PreEvent I was able to greedily get my reward. That makes me so sad.

I think I will work on some other changes instead, as this one made me feel dirty. One rare richer…but still dirty.

I use Longbow as Warrior and use all Skills from 1-5 when they are up, and got loot again the last 2 tries also when i ignored Portal 2 and 3 and directly tagged him. So i also think it is more the problem of something like a 50 person loot cap.
