Champions loot is still terrible!
I’d like for champs to have a much better loot table, more abilities to make killing them harder and require more people, and to spawn less often.
I’d like for champs to be along the lines of event zones where players call them out when they’re up and others respond to help because the reward is worth the effort.
I too was excited about the ‘Improved Champion Loot’, but then, it was meh, really meh.
i noticed chests were consistently in the ‘groups of greens’ camp now for jump puzzles and such.
I’ll say that it was a much better acknowledgement than the old ‘find a blue’ but on some of those puzzles you’d think a Rare was warranted…
Champions, however, have yet to be worth the effort comparatively on any attempt. Even in the Halloween stuff, it was not the champion that was the reward..but the chests they unlocked.
I barely see a difference at all. It just feels like an extra waste of time.

More seriously, until the recent patch notes about it (which seems to have changed nothing) I had always just assumed the ‘loot’ from champions was whatever they were guarding. I used to always kill champions when I was leveling my ranger (solo if I had to) because it was a fun challenge but I did it believing I would get nothing.
Still getting nothing and now I just distract with my pet and grab whatever it is I’m after then leave.
Though normal creeps seems to drop off rares more often without MF gear. :P So I’m not complaining that much (or been lucky resently at Orr), though I admit Champions should always have at least one green, preferably one rare.
And some veterans, with high MF gear, should drop masterworks and rares every now and then.
This is my dime in this topic. :P
Switched Anet to Square E and haven’t regretted it even once.
If I remember correctly, the change they made to champs was that you would be guaranteed a drop, but I don’t think they actually said anything about improving the chance at rare drops. Someone fancier than me can quote the dev notes for the last update to show this evidence.
This is what the update notes said:
-The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased. Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot.
This is certainly not what is really happening, open-world champs’ chance of dropping anything at all doesn’t seem to be any higher than a normal mob. I still usually get absolutely no drop from them.

Name them. Give a small chance for unique weapon or armor skin. Bring back skill captures on some of them if they add slot 6-10 skills.
Many meta events require killing champions but few people kill them because of the loot.

I love this idea. I miss the named bosses from GW1 (and other games), it makes it feel like you’ve killed something special, and not just a more powerful version of the same mob. It made the encounter more memorable, and some of the names were just awesomely funny.
Unique skin drops, or even a unique named weapon drop, would be a great incentive to kill them. A unique weapon could have similar chance of dropping as a random rare/exotic, but would always have the same stat (just like the existing named weapons). To take a page out of GW1’s book, the sigil could be built-in instead of having an upgrade slot. In GW, this served to differentiate the unique boss items from the “normal rare” weapons that could use upgrade/mod components.

The champions have regained their dominance in Tyria.
So me and my friend were killing champions in frostgorge this week we both had mf gear on 200%+
Pretty sure a Dev already stated that MF gear only works on normal mobs.
Chests drops can only be tweaked by the Devs themselves, which they did. A bit.
In your place I´d be happy that the DR(diminshing returns) code DOESN´T work on chests, as your constant droprates there seem to indicate.
Quite frankly I´d bump my head on the wall for an hour instead of running the same Champ over and over again.

Cause I´m getting mighty suspicious and pretty annoyed at the sheer audacity of you bot farmers lately.
Veterans loot also seems to have died out. I regularly went vet hunting, now, waste of my time. At least they don’t one shot you though.
Nah im no bot, i just enjoy killing champs and hoping to get loot. Let me tell you killing champs with 200% mf and no toughness is risky business and requires alot of effort + i killed them in the space of a week when i was bored (champion koda and champion icebrood norn) anyway im glad im not the only one who notices this terrible loot table and hope they change them again soon, cough* corrupted weapons cough* maybe they even forgot to change the icebrood champs loot tables in that tiny corner of tyria.
