Champions reset during solo
I do agree. It’s not only the champions doing it, it’s regular mobs as well, which is making leveling really annoying. You’re fighting a group of 5 enemies, you’re low on health, one of them suddenly turns around, goes away and resets for no apparent reason. You think “oh it’s fine, I’ll just finish these off”, you finish those off, the one that regenerated re-aggros for no reason and downs you.
Normal enemies, veterans and champions they all do it. Sometimes you can chase an enemy doing damage to it and it will be just fleeing you while regenerating from 10% to full health, then when he reaches full health he will turn around and attack.
Fighting Cursed shore’s Broodmother atm.
I tried a different spot for its convenience.
But no, around 70% life it decided it was fed up, ran back and did its kitten reset.
Thing is this time it doesn’t even respond to my attacks anymore.
It stands here, as I’m writing I’m on autofire on it, I’m hearing the gunshots.
I will kill it this way, to take revenge for all its buggy resets it had on me.
Now maybe THIS will attract the dev attention.
We can beat the mob, after some SILLY reset it doesn’t even move anymore.
Fix it?
Bugwars.
Are you pulling it too far from it’s original spot?
From weapon range estimation I would say maybe from 1200 to 1500 range max.
But as I said before the fights can go on for a very long time, fighting at the same place, before the mob finally decide to reset.
Soloing a champion takes time, imagine how many times I’m kiting through the same spots again, and again and again.
Then the mob finally decide it lasted enough and resets.
Like maybe it FAILS its distance check.
“Oho, I’m way too far, time to reset”.
Nooo you stupid mob, we have been at the SAME place for the last 30mn.
It didn’t change! C’mon!
Anyway I killed it and it dropped a blue item.
I wonder why nobody cares about these events, it’s so worth the trouble.
I only died a dozen times.
It’s especially rough as a mesmer since you may be fighting it right up there in it’s face – the clone it’s presently aggro’d on will die or shatter, the AI looks around and says “Huh… my target’s dead. Guess I’ll reset”
And go storming off while I’m wailing on it’s kitten /p>
Garnished Toast

you can just not pull mobs at all (stay at the same spot) and they will still decide to reset.
Then there are silly abilities that enemies themselves do and force themselves to reset. Like some champion giants love to use “charge”. You dodge, they charge past you aaaand reset.
I’m thinking it’s only the open world content so they won’t worry about it honestly. If it were a dungeon or something they’d actually fix it. It’s been happening to me off and on since launch. It’s just like DR they didn’t look to see if there was an actual code problem (the killcredit bug) until it started to affect the dungeon runners, then they had a serious issue, if it’s a casual open world player, it’s not worth it apparently.
Sorry to sound so jaded but here we are almost a year after launch and there’s just too much ignored that should have been handled more professionally.

dungeon runners get ignored plenty as well
“Because we took out the ability to revive during combat we’ll add more waypoints!”
Months later no extra waypoints in most (if not all) dungeons.

Thanks for that as I’m not a dungeon fan in this title I had no idea. WoW even better huh. Got told we would get retro’d for our achievements in the form of laurels too, still haven’t seen that drop. It’s starting to pile up in here, can’t all be those of us who are noticing the large number of promises missed over the past 8 months or so.

Actually I’m pretty sure no one said laurels. I’d expect that the achievement reward wouldn’t be laurels.
Working as intended.
It is not a bug.
All Mobs do it.
Reported this as a bug from my first day of playing GW2 (3days head start).
I guess Anet wants the mobs to fight like thief (oh I’m losing time to disengage).

That’s the funny thing. When people pointed this out they said “working as intended”, yet if you don’t move and an enemy deaggros, runs away, comes back with full health 10 seconds later I would consider this to be a problem. They for some reason do not. It infuriates me.
This happened to me on the Champion Risen Broodmother in Malchor’s Leap. I was kiting it around the tiny little island it was on when I got there. After about 20% of its health gone, it just turns around and resets. I backed up and watched it. It runs off across the lagoon. On further observation, it paths around the lagoon. I know one of the Broodmothers in CS also paths. I wonder if the code that makes it path has a timer that says, “Time to move” and that timer is not being deactivated by combat?
It seems that soloing a champion, some models only, generate a specificity here:
The reset will happen each time, at each attempt.
So it is not a thing that may happen but a mechanism that just makes these champions impossible to solo.
It may happen on other mobs. It happened to us all on various occasions.
It’s possible that these models won’t reset if you solo them on their spot instead of running around. But I don’t think anybody can fight these models without moving around.
So ANET created mobs with an anti-soloing mechanism.
You just CAN’T solo these mobs.

This happened to me when I was soloing the Giant Jellyfish in Underwater fractal, it’s a pretty long fight (it has lots of hp) but having it reset 4 times made it even worse… Fortunately issues like this occur mostly when you are soloing. While in dungeons, you are rarely soloing, so it’s not as noticable as in the open world where you are soloing quite often, but still the exact same issues can happen in dungeons too, mobs use the same code I guess.
