I’m not sure if it’s a bug or it’s supposed to be this way, but I can’t change the stats on an ascended breather in the Mystic Forge like I can with another ascended piece of armor or weapon. Is this a bug Anet or is supposed to be this way? Anyone else have this problem?

At the very bottom, under “Notes” is your answer.

Not really, that is the wiki. The breather is treated as the underwater headgear for a toon. I think its something they have overlooked.

I’m not sure what you are trying to say. It clearly states that it does not work with breathers. If you want a more “official” answer you should contact support.

after reading your post fully and doing a little info look up . yeah the stats can not be changed on the Ascended breathers at all.

and no need to contact support btw this is the info i did find on your item and your

question . and from the looks of it all . you want to change stats you got to make a

new one for that set of stats .

Backpiece trinkets and breather are all treated the same. Build the Zerker one and never look back.

My point is that its treated like the 6/6 armor piece while underwater. Also, there is no recipe (not that I can find) for an ascended breather for viper’s stats.

You seem to be missing the point that you can not change the breathers stats.

Will not work with trinkets or back items, as they are not armor (even though the trading post lists them under that category), and also not on breathers.

EDIT: Yassith is the ascended armor with Viper stats and there is no Yassith breather. There are not nearly as many breathers as there are normal armor stat options.

My post was for Anet to see. The wiki is edited by players seeing what they see in game (is this a fair assessment?) I understand you cannot right now change the stats on the ascended breathers, but you should be able to as it is counted as the headgear and 6/6 armor piece underwater. For example, You have to put a 7th rune it for the 6/6 stat underwater.

Also means I didn’t waste the mats and gold making the Viper insignia. Will keep it until later.

More like ignore the breather and never look back. There is no underwater raid and the underwater fractal doesn’t go up high enough so is no need for an ascended breather in any content.
