Character Creation Options You Want
Humans: The old faces duplicated to have freckle versions.
New body types. (It’s a dream I know. Difficult to pull off.)
Norn males: Really big beards.
What I wanted since a long time, but I think there is still no hope for this. More option to design and change a charakter at making and later:
Dyable and replaceable Underwear, like normal pieces of armour to change and color.
That this little piece inside some hairstyle could be colored outside the styling tool.
Boob sliders.
On a more serious note, I would like for some limited body customization over the default body types. Not over-the-top Aion customization.
The NPCs faces, armors and beards.
For the faces, I’m not just talking about main NPCs like the Pale Tree, Caithe or Braham : there’s even minor NPCs in the human storyline who have got exclusive faces from the very beginning (like them : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Blaize , http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Andrew , http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Big_Nose_Ted ), and I still don’t understand why Arenanet don’t want to give those to the players. Because they’re not looking like pretty ken dolls ? e_e
Even for main NPCs like Trahearne, it makes no sense : there’s some random Nightmare Courtiers with the exact same face, so why can’t we have those ?
More faces, more options to customize the body.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
How about a character creator like that of Black Desert Online?
I assume that a complete overhaul of body customization is not an option.
So I would really want to see more body types for the different races. A small breasted human female body for example, the one we already have in the game has a buggy bottom that messes up most of the skirts.
I would also love to see norn and human hairstyles made available to the other race as well … faces too. The norn stuff looks too beautiful and pure to only be available to these big brutish ladies.
That’s probably never going to happen but that’s what I’d wish for.
At least I hope that we will get more faces and more hairstyles! The expansion should contain some. Perhaps something jungle themed or a bit wild but still suitable for normal situations as well.
Edit: Oh … and another thing that came to my mind: Some screenshots show the early sylvari with some cute hairstyles … why not bring those back to the game?
More face options, like freckles, scars, tatoos, beards. And let us customize the bodies, so that our chars can be really slim or fat.

More faces would be awesome (esp. female Sylvari, imo — several of those I’d never use, and I love making Sylvari chars). I’d also love to see more Charr horn styles with more color variation.
[GW1 summer 2005 until GW2 beta in 2012.]
Hair Kit & Makeover:
A ton more choices for hair piece colors.
In fact I’d love to be able to click on something that literally brings up my personal dye panel color choices. I don’t care how complicated that is, I want it lol
I want more scarred, old, and ugly faces ESPECIALLY for female characters. We get a few (very, very few) of those options for males, but none for females. Not everyone wants to play Barbie. A blind old crone as a necromancer, a war-scarred veteran, ect. We already have tons of “cute/pretty/sexy” options for females… and “underwear model/young man/handsome” options for males… give us real variety. Give us the ugly and the frightening.
More sliders and types of everything and anything, for charr especially.
I still wish they had used Aion character creator and make slider less strong to avoid most of the atrocities we could create by putting all sliders to 0 or 100.
More hairstyles for all of course. More flower/plant themed hairstyles for Sylvari.
Hairstyle from Anyandrell.6238
I actually prefer small Charakters, so I prefer Human, but the Norns are not build soo… and dont have faces soo… I have beautiful Norn and a unique human with undefined origin vause humans lack a nice build. also the tattoo options. They should add that for scars (musters iver the full body). Furthermore face tattoos and body tattoos should be chooseabke separately and get an equipment slot or at least a way like gear to show up or not. Btw, more classy underwear (a lot if skin, but more light decent skinny light armor) and a way to not show all of your armor would also be an option.
The ability to see looped animations. Like character running, or character swinging a weapon of a type for their class, etc.
I’d like some sort of silhouette overlay to let us see our height/bulk compared to a completely average one. Game after game gives me height sliders with no clue how I’ll look in the world. In TESO I made an Altmeri (High Elf) and she’s a freaking giant when I just wanted a bit of height. In GW2 my alts have generally come out as I like but I see so many out-of-scale tiny or giant people (of the same race) it’s bizarre.

And I thought Aion’s character creation was amazing. That looks amazing!
Too bad it probably won’t be used in GW2.
The old ugly asura faces, but they overhauled the whole race to make em cuter, so that’s probably not going to happen.
I’ve posted this one before, but since the subforum, and subsequently the thread, were archived;
I want this set up for male Charr.
Also I hate my user ID.
How about a character creator like that of Black Desert Online?
No thanks. Whenever I play an MMORPG with a character creation screen this advanced, I’m met in-game by a bunch of characters so deformed, the animations don’t even know how to apply anymore. Giving this much freedom to players is great in theory, but in reality, it’s monstrous at best.

The character creator is amazing, too bad they wasted all their resources on the character creator and not the gameplay.
Id love to be able to play tall norn and charrs without them having slow running animations specially during combat….
I’d like to see more face and hair styles from the original games- playable and non-playable characters (although Sylvari wouldn’t benefit from this).
Norn:
-More tattoo styles and colours. More asymmetrical tattoos (e.g. one arm sleeve) amongst other designs. Right now I feel that there are only a handful of nice ones, but they are all so common because how few they are.
-More facial hair options. Like what has already been said, really long beards would be awesome although clipping might be an issue.
-Some particularly skinny and more rotund body styles. Norn are meant to be broad and strong by default, but this limits the overall look somewhat.
Asura:
-More hair-styles. I feel that Asura are one of the races missing out on a huge range of hair customisation. I would love to see some more of the old GW1 traditional asura hair as well as some more ‘normal’ or even ‘human-like’ hair
-More ear-styles. Lop-sided, battle-scarred/battered, pierced… all sorts. I think we already have a great selection and customisation options, but ears could certainly make a bolder statement.
-Faces. The new additions to the make-over kit are great- they add a lot more variety. I think the problem with the asura faces (for me at least) is how different they all are- there needs to be faces that somewhat “fall-between” some of the current styles. The new ones are also all a little “shiny” and a bit creepy- I don’t particularly know how to describe it.
Sylvari:
-More ear options: once again, I’m sure more variety can be added here.
-Face options: Once again, there are about 3 very popular faces for each gender and the rest seem to be a little mediocre. I don’t want my Sylvari to look strange or generally aesthetically unpleasing, but I don’t want it to look like most other sylvari in-game. (I realise this is kind of a vicious circle though!)
-More glow patterns and skin patterns: what about more foliage-shaped patterns? A suggestion of more leaves, roots, vines…
Humans:
-More body types. I think that of all races, Humans should have the most variety. Not all people come under the bracket of wire-thin/prepubescent→slightly muscular→normal body fat distrubution.
-More racially diverse faces. Once again, as above… it is very difficult to make convincing african-origin and asian-origin faces in particular (or so I’ve found). It’d be nice to see more normal-looking faces for females and less pouty-lipped-baby-faced females.
-More hair variety. I’ve added this suggestion on a couple of threads already. Same point as previous- more racially diverse hair. A lot of it is very caucasian looking in structure and texture.
Charr:
-Plenty more hair styles. I feel that a different take could help with new charr hair-styles. Less “big-showy” stuff and perhaps more subtle differences, e.g. in texture. Short-medium length hair but in a choice of wavy, braided, beaded, dread-locks etc etc.
-Horns! More colour variety- still in keeping with horn colours. More textures would be nice. Branched, engraved, spiraling, etc.
-Better face customisation. I kinda think there are enough charr faces. The problem is, they are so difficult to tweak to look significantly different to the default faces. Better controls over eye-placement (vertical, horizontal, rotation), muzzle width/length/position/rotation, and more options for nose width/length/angle would be excellent. Right now if you want a charr with a small nose, you still have to suffer with a regular sized muzzle and mouth area.
All races:
-More body modification options. Freckles, individual moles and scars would be really awesome. Even allowing all races to have a selection of lip/eyebrow/ear piercings would be cool.
-Ability to dye underwear AND hair accessories. Hopefully both options present in the hero panel.

Kinda like how Anet wasted resources on the NPE and trait revamp?
Zing!
But yeah, I’d kill to have even half of BDO’s character creation in this game.

From how it turned out and what problems there were at start, they didn’t really waste alot of resources…
Lol, I dig your sarcasm!
Much appreciated!

There is actually an old woman face for human females.

There is a face with laugh lines, when we say older faces, we mean this:

Unreal how much customization can go into a character. You can basically make any hair-style you want. That’s next gen stuff.
I would like older faces, and not “old” being defined as 30. I am thinking more like being able to look up to about 70… and not something out of a fashion magazine. I would like hair that matches. We have the option to have grey/black, white/grey, etc., but I would like streaks of white.
I would also like to have human faces that can more easily be made to look not white. No matter what I do with the facial sliders, I look like a mixed white guy with brown skin.

Older human female faces. As it is, we have an awful lot of faces that look like seven to ten year old girl faces, but only one that looks officially over eighteen.
Having just all the option from Perfect World International would be really great.
That game is quite old, but the character editor for me is still one of the best i’ve
seen so far.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
To see character height in relation to an object in the game like a barrel or better yet a human npc. Atm with a blank background you could be the size of a house or as small as a mini for all we know at creation.
(edited by Paul.4081)
for one, i would like to customize my character’s body, not just the face.
ESO, rift, AION, BDO, all examples how it can be done.
i would also like to add scars, make-up, face patterns, all without changing the face.
more control over the shape of eyes, there is only one asian themed face and that one is to doll-like IMO.
allot more hair styles, even some hair styles from other races. (like the really long pony tail of the norn for humans etc…)
and FYI, all within new character creation, i still think it’s ridicules that we have to buy a total makeover kit after making the character. (it’s expensive enough to buy a character slot….)
I would like it if my character was horny. Seriously. No! Stop it! Get your mind out of the gutter!
Thinking of options that might be in the realm of the possible given the current character customization editor:
older faces, especially for humans
more different body shapes, especially non-athletic ones
if it was possible to have a highlight color in hair, I’d take it
New fur patterns and horns for charrs. Would also like the ability to use all hair colors on the fur patterns (though I doubt that will happen because we’ll likely see blue and pink furries running around everywhere..).
If we had male norn that didn’t look like Bluto from the Popeye cartoons I might have a male norn character. But they all look like Bluto to me.
I’ve recently created a male charr ele, and I an determined to not delete him, but even so the unnaturalness of his posture irks me. Perhaps if we had a male charr body that was a little more upright and a little less a chiropractor’s daydream… alas.
The ones that get the worst of it, though, are the Largos and the Tengu. With them, we go from having very little choice to absolutely no choice. How much longer will this go unaddressed?

I want:
Age variety
Tons of facial hair
Weight variety (seriously lets get some fat characters)
And please add some super ugly faces for each race.
Personally, I think the initial character creation screen should have more options without the use of a makeover kit. Especially for character slots that have been added to the account via the Gem Store.
Boob and butt sliders.
I would like a version of charr that doesn’t have tails. If the devs can’t be bothered to make a round opening for the tail, (yes hole was censored), then at least let me remove the tail.

Boob sliders.
“Hi, this is Omer from mmohut dot com and Imma be doing a first impressions gameplay…”
The main thing I think is missing in GW2 character creation is the ability to create older looking people. It’s bad enough that players can’t do this, but it also results in every NPC being 20-25 years old, no matter what they’re doing in the game. It’s kind of silly and immersion-breaking.
I loved, loved, loved that old woman scholar in the library. Need more NPCs that look like that.
Otherwise, my complaints are more about the base art style than they are about the customizations. Male Norn are way too burly while Asura heads are too big and have needlessly ugly faces (why don’t they look more like they do in that Rata Sum artwork?)
I would like to see a lot more older characters, especially with female Norn and Humans.
However I also see the issues with both voice work and, ahem… “gravity over time” when selecting body types.
I would like to see a selection in voices. 3 or 4, maybe.
Oh, and the ability to change your accessory color without having to use a whole Style kit or at least using our own dyes. It would add a great bit of variety to our characters.
I would like to see a selection in voices. 3 or 4, maybe.
Yes to this.
I’d even happily pay for a new voice actor.
Voice selections at character creation. Even 3 would be great. That way the voice can match up to some racial diversity. I made a Chinese-inspired character and the voice did not match at all. Killed it for me. Also, if you implement older faces, make sure to add some bodies to match. The one older female human face available just looks weird with the 18 year old bodies. And I agree on the option to change hair accessory color without having to spend a hair style kit. That’s just silly since we can change gear color at any time.
