They explained that in the beta weekend blog announcement, data got corrupted so they’re wiping all the beta characters. That was planned.

The serious issue, per Reddit, is that every character made (or even just logged in on?) was getting the daily reward. I’m glad I’m still patching, I’d hate to find I’d gotten extra stuff that I’d then have to panic would mean a rollback or ban just for alt hopping …

Gaile, can we still use the character creation area but just not use the Create button at the end? I have some interest in designing my beta alts and documenting the sliders, without actually making them for loading into the game. Not that I’m likely to have the game patched in time for such things before the live stream.

or there’s an attack of mega character creation that’s causing the rest of us to have slow to nil download times for this patch… XD

Probably about bug where all character get login reward. Some player if lucky and on right day of reward going to get a lot of laurel to turn to gold.

I still fail to see why people who already pre-purchased cant make HoT characters now and just wipe them to level 0 when the expansion starts. It could have been a bonus for pre-purchasing.

It actually progresses normally with each character. So character 1 is considered as day 1, then character 2 is considered as day 2 etc.

I did not know exact how work because I did not test exploit. But still arena net do not want people keep create character for more reward.

I am just hoping there is not a DNS attack .. again. This seems broken.

I can only imagine what kind of serious issue. Maybe characters were being born mutated and deformed by Mordremoth corruption. :O

Was in Lion’s Arch map chat when Gaile was on. Word is to just don’t open bunches of additional chests or repeat dailies. In other words, don’t exploit it.

You have 24 hours which is as long as it will be reserved for you. I expect character creation will be fixed way before then.

Yes.

Yes, Kidel, they announced in the blog about HBWE3 that due to some data corruption they would delete all the beta characters. Not that they ever promised they’d persist after the second beta anyway.

Even without the current freeze on creation you would not be able to make more beta alts until beta is live this Friday.

Got a ETA as to when character creation will be up? I just bought the game today and itching to get in and check it out. Some bad timing lol

Actually yeah, I do have a concern about name loss. I had intended to make my Norn Necromancer with my beta Reaper name once the beta Reaper was deleted, because I love her whole look. It’s not horrible if I lose it (not that I expect anyone to take it, it’s my own tweaking of a couple of old Norse words mushed together), I can add in a last name if I must. Still, I do want to get her started.

I call BS. Have downloaded the last 2 updates and I have no less than 3(!) daily login chests bouncing around in my screen… and they’re not even bouncing in sync. -.-

And in the WS camp login and character creation is a big clusterkitten … I really hope that they are not connected in any way.

I wonder if this bug with login reward was something to do with change to guild challenge reset. Maybe someone mess with wrong timer.

I just left mine in my inventory until further notice. Seems the safest way to handle it if you click on the chest to get rid of it.

Contact support and ask them is always best thing to do first, hopefully they will pass the word along to the right people for official response on the forum.

I just did not even log in when I hear about the bug. I could have done this and I have enough character to get a month worth of login reward. I like my account though.

I think they will not ban people with many rewards unless it is some people caught making many character to get reward before arena net close character create. That happen fast though so not many people.

Ironically this arrives the day I’m set to use my two unused charater slots.

Oh well.

They patched it, I have now made my proto-Reaper norn and she is level 3. … I really should just tome her up, I guess. I already know how to necro.

I started a new char the other day just messing around and decided to try out a plant.
HOLY POOP!!
There were SO many brand new characters that the dream dragon looked like a praying mantis getting ganged by army ants. Just dozens and dozens of them.
WTH its was like someone told them “hey if you don’t make a sylvari now, you wont be able to make one when HoT drops”

Is the character creation still disabled? Is that the reason why I get the “can’t log into the server error” at the end of the character creation?
