Character voices and zooming in Suggestion
Being able to choose a voice would be great, but I’m skeptical that it would happen. Besides the storylines, there’s a lot of incidental dialogue in the open world with HoT, and then you have a lot of profession-specific voice-overs for skills. When you factor in additional languages, you can see how having multiple voices per gender, per race, adds up to an enormous amount of dialogue.
I’m not saying it can’t be done, but it would very expensive, and it’s interesting to consider why that is. There’s a lot of dialogue, when you look at it all.
Yeah… As a Charr player, I really wish we had more voice options.
I find it silly that these three characters have the exact same voice.
I’d love voice packs. They even have a method of choosing which one to start with at the beginning! (Which personality?)
The current voice works great for the first (Tie it to “Dignity” for new characters?), but I’d like something coarser and more savage for the second (Tie it to “Ferocity”), and something higher pitch and cuter for the third (Tie it to charm?)

I’d love to have different voices for my characters. It’s weird when every other character with the same race/gender combination sounds exactly like mine, and it’s weird that all my characters with the same race and gender sound the same. Even if I only have 1 the voice sometimes doesn’t suit how I see the character, so it would be nice to be able to change it.
But as other people have said it’s a lot of work, voice actors aren’t cheap (especially good voice actors) and they’d need to be reasonably sure they could get them back again for future content. Apparently this is why our characters didn’t talk in the Living Story – they couldn’t keep getting the voice actors back in every couple of weeks to record the dialogue. (And in case anyone is thinking it no it’s not something they could do from home with free software and a headset. Not to any decent quality anyway.)
As for the zoom option I agree that would be nice to have. You can do a lot with the camera position sliders (and the check box to adjust to character height) but it would be nice to be able to zoom in on the face/upper body without having to find a wall to trap the camera against.
