Charged Quartz Crystals
While I agree, you can buy the stuff for sinister. It’s actually pretty cheap.
Doesn’t bother me, and I like the mechanic of taking the crystals to a place of power to charge it as well.
The fact I need to charge them isn’t the problem…
The fact I need 25 for a celestial set of trinkets is: In the same time I can get 2 ascended trinkets by doing guild missions and 1 ascended amulet from laurels, and 2 ascended rings from fractals… with enough crystalized essence to infuse them as well
Yes… the logics of a game.

I haven’t tried getting/crafting those yet, but I agree comparatively they do seem pretty expensive there.
Yeah think they should remove the timer on them most veteran players have way to much of charge crystals anyways it only hurt new players.

Well, why dont you do just that and get a celestial ascended set?

I am not sure why you feel time gating should be removed on the crystals. If you have the crystals or the place of power in your home instance all you have to do is collect enough crystals daily to convert into charged crystals. You can also get tons of crystals in Dry Top. I keep on those and have been since they existed so you can eventually get a decent supply for whatever you need them for.
Not everything should be an “I want it now.” Sometimes patience and some work yields much greater satisfaction in the end.

I’d be happy with there being a purpose to waiting other than an arbitrary stopwatch, just ’cause.
I do not find that to be compelling, interesting or even necessary. It’s a cop out. In fact, it is the bargain bin manager’s special of cop outs.
It’s so cheap that if one doesn’t feel insulted by the blatant ‘and here’s how much of your time will now be wasted for no reason other than that we think it should be’ counter, one is to be pitied.
They could do better than that if they even halfheartedly tried. It’s a good idea, but like so many of the good ideas they’ve gotten ahold of, their execution leaves much to be desired.
Buy your Sheets of Charged Ambrite if you want it quickly.
Its so easy for you to say that its nothing to veteran players because we “have a lot already”, which isn’t necessarily true, and that it only “hurts” new players. This approach can be taken towards so many things in the game. The demand for immediate satisfaction. It cheapens the efforts for those that have come before you but you don’t really care about that.
As an example:
How would you feel if Luminescent armor skins became available for just a few laurels in a year from now? All the time and effort that so many people put into getting them through the original way the devs designed it to be — reduced to a simple and cheap laurel purchase a year or two later. Perhaps because new players started crying about having to wait and/or work at it.
I’m sure many of you for this change will completely disregard my opinion on this. It still needed to be said.

Work (I.E. farming bandit crests and meta’s) =/= waiting 24 hours for something to click once and hit f. (I.E. charging quartz)…
There, it needed to be said…
(I whole heartedly believe they won’t change anything, but I get grouchy when people try to act like the smartest kid in the forums… That spot is reserved for Mystic and Wanze)

Your example is of LS1 skins <.<

I, personally, don’t look to video games to provide me with deep senses of achievement and accomplishment, so I tend to look at them more as luxuries rather than necessities, or even as sources of fulfillment other than fulfillment of instant gratification.
So no. I, at least, don’t really care about that, and I have a Vogon’s pity for those that expect their activities in video games to be some sort of deeply fulfilling, life-affirming admixture of career choice and lifestyle.
If you’re not aware, a Vogon’s pity is non-existent. I would hear anything and everything anyone has to say about this, then push the ‘Blow up your planet’ button anyway.
My only regret would be having bothered listening when I should’ve just pushed the button and been done with it.

+1 for the Vogon reference. That said…
It’s not an all or nothing thing. You can actually like achieving stuff in a game without it being life affirming. I’ve already accomplished everything I want in life. I’m older. I don’t have huge goals anymore. I’m in a happy place.
But I don’t get out as much as I did when I was younger and so getting achievements in games now is enjoyable for me. So you can keep your Vogon’s pity (such as it is) to yourself.

Sounds like you’re in that eerie and mythical place of being reasonable about it. I suspect more people live there than actually talk about it, but they don’t tend to be the ones commenting on MMO forums so much (in my experience, at least).
What I’m really trying to say here is that you might be bigfoot.
Do you have hairy toes, sir?

I don’t know. I’ve put on some weight. I haven’t seen my toes in years. lol

Be advised, forumers: this entity might be bigfoot. In the event that this poster is actually bigfoot, do not be alarmed. He is probably more afraid of you than you are of him, and will almost certainly not eat most of your children.
Yeah, here’s the thing . . . this doesn’t really bother me all that much. Why? I don’t really have a need for these items in bulk enough to really require them. I do need to charge up a few for my Mawdrey work, but not to an extent where it matters – I still have to collect other parts while Charging, so I need to wait? Fine. I’ll go chase Foxfire Clusters. I need tons of those still.
(THAT one I will readily complain about, even if it’s a tired and jaded “can’t we just get extractors as drops or exchanges for Geodes/Crests/Something?”)
From what little I read of the min/max details . . . Celestial and Sinister are on the far end of “useful” gear for the time needed to work on them. If the time was shortened, I still doubt they’d move up the list.
All this said? I’m not attached to the wait timer, and likewise wouldn’t give a skritt if it was removed. Especially since the products (unlike the Plant Food items) cannot be sold to players, and are more by-products to Inscriptions/Insignia. Ones which most players trying to maximize their potential skip over anyway.

Already have a full set, and celestial armor, and celestial ascended weapons.

Keep the time gating. Remove the account bound. I will never be crafting any of those, so I’d like to sell my cooldown for profit.

Agreed. I don’t mind time gating on specific components if it’s used to add incentive to trading / cooperation, as a guild working together to create a set of armor is just… better.
But for that to happen, the items need to be tradeable in the first place.

Time is time. Whether it be spending days, weeks, or months on farming and other activities — or just simply taking a bunch of quartz and charging them on a daily basis. In comparison the Charged Quartz Crystal is so much easier.
@ Carighan – That’s a better idea than just simply removing the time gate itself.

I like taking an item to a place and “charging” it to make it into a different, more powerful item. The scavenger hunts like that are something I have enjoyed since GW1.
In my opinion the reason it is gated is so the the credit card people don’t go buy them all up and corner the market, same with other gated materials.
The part of me that is impatient wants the time gating removed on this, but practically, I think it would be far better if Anet would remove the account bound status of the Charged Quartz Crystals.
It would add another small money sink to the game (TP tax taken on transactions) as well.
