So, I’ve been away a few years, and about to come back, but before I start a new character (Heavily considering Charr Thief as I like professions with some level of complexity, and mesmers seem far more common (What are you guys thoughts on rarer professions?))

Anyways, with mounts coming with PoF, I was looking at the videos, and it looks like Charr are bigger than the mounts…. Looks friggen kittened…. is this something you think they’ll address? Is it intentional for some reason?

That alone has actually put me off of character creation (Followed by debating on the profession with some level of complexity, and not a tank (Mesmer, thief, rev, ele… Which of those is least played? :P ) But mostly, the race part… I’m partial to Charr, but not if they are going to look bigger than the mount…

The mounts are small and designed as such to prevent visual noise.

If you want least played, Rev seems to be super low pop n from a reddit pole, will continue in that fashion as it was the least picked anticipated elite spec.

Also Thieves are way more common than Mesmers. Wayyyy more. Especially in pvp/wvw.

That’s a shame… Every other race looks good on the mounts, so not only do Charr get clipping issues from hell on armor, they also look obscenely large on mounts…

This is actually surprising… I remember a metric kittenton of butterflies in WvW… But I’m ok with this… Mesmer seems like it could be even more complex than thief.

During my brief periods of testing new characters in the silverwastes, mesmer could handle nearly everything, but was slow to kill (Possibly from being quite rusty in the game…) Rev seemed OP as kitten, and thief didn’t do well with groups, but could make short work of single mobs…

You see a lot more mesmers because for every mesmer there are 3 clones :P

Size of mount will be different based on race though, like asura raptor looked smaller than a human raptor.

I guess we’ll see but I mean, clipping for me is not a biggy unless its like WHOA clipping. If its small its w/ev

Just looking at that charr on the raptor—without seeing a human on the raptor—it looks fine. It isn’t so large that the raptor couldn’t realistically carry it. The rabbit mount though… that might look weird with charr. We will have to see.
Go ahead and make your charr character. If you’re worried about sizing issues, make the charr short and slender.

He would be short and mid bulk, but I’m still considering profession… Lime pointed out thieves are more abundant than mesmers now, and revs are rather uncommon apparently, which is what I typically go for… Something that not everyone plays.

Mounts will scale with the size of the character (not race) chosen in Character Creation. For the largest size of Mount, chose the tallest available character height. For the smallest Mount, chose the shortest available character height.

Actually, it looks like all the mounts are designed with Charr in mind as the ‘base’ size for the mount. I’m glad that raptors don’t get magically larger if a Charr hops on one.
