Hi there!

I was wondering what the cheapest way of getting Ascended weapons/armor was.

I can get Ascended trinkets with a decent time investment but minimal cost. However, when I look up Ascended weapon acquisition it all seems crazy expensive but requires minimal time investment. What is the cheapest way? (time taken isn’t really an issue but I dislike grinding for gold as it doesn’t feel like I’m working toward anything).

The cheapest way would be farming Fractals and hoping for a weapon-chest drop. I think there’s a 20% chance to get one at level 50. But considering all the potential weapon-types it’s very unlikely you’ll get what you want.

You can also get Ascended weapon-chests from all other types of content, but again they are rare.

Crafting is really the only reasonable way of getting them in any timely fashion. Now that everyone has had time to level to 500 it’s not nearly as expensive as it used to be. still costly however but bearable if you are well prepared have have a few crafting boosters.

Once you reach 500, the rest isn’t so bad. Creating the actual weapons is “reasonable”.

I guess I’ll just go for 500WS then and get the money by farming dungeons/LS.

I leveled to 500 tailor on release day when both silk and linen were absurdly cheap. I wonder how screwed people are nowadays…

Don’t forget the World Bosses for the dragonite

The most efficient way is buying gems to convert to gold and buying everything you need off the AH.

Then your only issue would be dragonite usually which isn’t that hard to get/farm and you probably already have some stored up if you do world events.

The second most efficient way quite frankly is grinding for gold.

This game still has DR(not clue why this is ever even made it to live) so grinding for mats is going to take you twice as long instead of gold.

Also – Unless you are doing Fractals there is absolutely no reason what so ever to get ascended gear. It would be a waste of your time and money.

If you have an abundance of time, the cheapest way would be to gather the mats yourself. Alternatively, gather as much as you can and buy the rest.
