Chest of Loyalty - Laurels obvious choice?
Yes

Yes. Always pick the laurels.
In the Chest of Legendary Crafting Materials you actually get both the 7 Mystic Clovers and the 8 Obsidian Shards. I know because I accidentally picked it once, woops!

Laurels are the best choice, in theory. Ascended crafting materials are better if you need gold, imo (you’ve mixed up the Legendary and Ascended chest contents, btw.)
The other stuff is basically worthless.
You have Chest of Ascended Crafting Materials and Chest of Legendary Crafting Materials swapped.
Also yes. 16 days worth of laurels but only 2 days worth of ascended materials in terms of time gates.

Not entirely. At current prices the 7 clovers is worth around 15g.
Why don’t we get a choice of getting 20-30 Mystic Coins in the chest of Loyalty is what I’d like to know.
Good point, Khisanth. I genuinely forget that people generally want legendaries. I’ve tossed entire stacks of shards out and vendored all of my clovers.
I always go for the laurels for my two accounts. The items can be transferred between accounts which is nice. Right now I just sit on the laurels. One could say I am resting on my laurels til the game interests me for more than daily log in rewards.
Choose laurels if:
- You have fewer than “a lot” (probably over 100) — they are non-renewable and the only source is from the login reward (20 from defined rewards, 20 from the Chest of Loyalty).
- If you want “guaranteed” value, consistently more than the minimum of any other choice except if you get two ascended mats.
Choose ascended mats if:
- You are willing to probably end up with fewer than 20 laurels worth of T6 mats, so you have the chance to get two ascended mats.
- Or if you are currently producing ascended gear — in that case even just one mat saves you enough aggravation that it is worth it for most players.
Choose legendary:
- If you are currently working on clovers for your legendary. (It’s not as economically efficient, but the time & aggro savings makes it worth it for a lot of folks.)

because of what the prices on mystic coins have done because you need a flat 250 for each new legendary making mystic coins little more than a 9+ month tradeable timegate, the higher the mystic coin prices go, the more those clovers will be worth to someone who doesnt pvp. I use to say always laurels, but those clovers are getting more and more attractive as the mystic coin prices inflate.

Considering you cant sell them to anything but a vendor, yes, they’re worthless. Working on a legendary? Maybe less so, but the laurels still net you t6 materials.
I started picking ascended materials a while ago (on all 30 accounts). T6 mats dropped too much in value, especially t6 poison.

The funny thing about “clovers being worth more to people that don’t PvP” is that PvPers get a couple Clovers after quite a few of the Reward Tracks and they end up just sitting around. I wish they weren’t bound and I’d give them away, as I’m partway through a second stack. Same thing happens with the ToKs. Already have 17 geared 80s and still sitting on over 900.

This is interesting and something I hadn’t even considered in value because it was like, just clovers and shards. I may consider this as an option….
I’ve always gone for laurels except once I clicked on ascended by mistake and got 2 (yay) and am sitting at just under 1,500 until I decide when I want to hurt my clicking finger to get T6 (well waiting for the 1.5k so I can screenshot first now, lol).

You can give away ToKs though as long as you have at least one open guild slot. They are used for various guild upgrades.
The chance for 1 or 2 ascended mats is 50:50 in my experience (based on 30 accounts). So you get 1,5 on average.
20 laurels are worth 12,40g on average at the moment. So take that as you want.
I’m actually not too sure anymore. In the past I would have picked laurels but t6s are not what they were in the past.
I went to the: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Heavy_Crafting_Bag and fortunately, everything there listed has its TP price listed, but since you have a equal chance of getting every material, I averaged the TP sell prices— a random t6 material has a value of ~24 silver 45 copper (Censoring that, really?) and since you get 3, each bag is worth ~73.35s. (Some decimals but thanks to fluctuating prices, nothing’s gonna be exact) Multiply that by 20. and just going to round that up to 14.7g for simplicity.
25.2 A Bone
25.3 V claw
21.69 C Dust
23.3 V Fang
24.6 A Scale
24.63 E Totem
7.9 P Venom
43 V P Blood
24.4525
73.3575
1467.15
Ascended crafting materials average ~9.75g but I don’t know the chance of getting one or two. If the chances were even I would assume the average is 14.65 gold.
Damask 11
deld 8.0025
elonian 11.023
plank 9.013
9.759625
14.655
Note that the TP keeps fluctuating, so numbers are estimates at best.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Wish they were used a lot more in the GH, there are relatively few needed in the upgrades and there are a lot of people with them sat around in stacks. I didnt get the chance to donate them as there were others who got there first! haha
Heck I have mine there just to make level 20s to key farm (when I’ve used up all the scrolls that is).
