So what do the Chinese players see when they go into Lion’s Arch? Is it destroyed for them?

Very interesting question… i’d love to know as well.
It’s GW2 already launched in China? And if that’s the case, can they upload walkthroughs to youtube or any other website? i’d love to see how it’s GW2 there even if i don’t understand anything xD

The Chinese Living World is supposed to keep up to date with our own. Rebooting back to intact LA would be difficult and pointless, because everything else in the game meshes with it being destroyed.

And all the people walking around talking about going to LA or walking through the gate to get to the Mist Wars. Would have been nice to have some of the dialog updates if they were going to leave it destroyed this long, even if the plan is to rebuild.

We won’t be going against any Chinese servers. Totally separate game from ours; we don’t share anything.

“everything in the game” at this moment means mostly “vigil keep, and refugee camps in gendarran, bloodtide and Lornar’s”. Everything else in this game that was once tied to LA is still unaware anything happened to the city.

LA is like ours. They have to pretty much use gendarran fields or race-towns like Divinity’s Reach.

I would guess that when the game goes out of beta and into live mode in China is the same time the living story 2 is released which will deal with the rebuilding of Lions Arch. It will also be the expansion into territory leading to the next dragon so Lions Arch may not be the hub that it was before it’s destruction.

EU/NA don’t face off in WvW. It seems logical China will be a separate data centre too

They’ve already said the Chinese servers will be totally separate.

Not just WvW and Megaserver maps (which are currently separate for EU and NA servers) but things like the Trading Post, the mail system, friends list etc. which are currently shared between EU and NA will be separate for China.

You won’t even be able to transfer your account there.

So here’s an assumption so take it for what its worth. Beta for us lasted about 3 months then the game went live. I imagine we in the EU/US will get started on our next living story thing sometime in the next month or two. So will the Chinese pop in smack dab in the middle of some new story arch? They wouldnt make us wait till the Chinese launch to see the next chapter of Living Story would they?

cough That’s exactly what they are going to do. There was even even an official qoute from Anet saying that there won’t be new updates until the end of the wvw season (30 may= also the chinesse launch) walks way innocently whistling

When I say launch I mean the actual launch that is three months away at the least. This is just the beta for China.

That’s exactly what they do. China is there big market now since NA/EU has dwindled. We are second to china in all content and decisions. It is why cantha was removed before launch and will never be introduced in an expansion. China said no.

We will test updates for China and once they are polished they will be released there. We are pretty much the unofficial test server at this point.

There is a rather major difference though.
The game is already released elsewhere and as such an open beta doesn’t need to be as long as when the game is first released.
