Q:
Chosing a character
My main is a Mesmer and it is a lot of fun. I’m only speaking PvE wise. I don’t do PvP or WvW. Of course I leveled my Mesmer before the trait changes. With the problems getting traits it may not be so much fun when leveling.
Mesmer is a solid choice. It can be a bit awkward to get used to, particularly at lower levels since mobs tend to die before shatters really matter and since traits make such a big impact on playstyle. However, it’s a very rewarding class once you get into it.
The one downside to consider, however, is that mesmers are the slowest class when it comes to map travel. They have little access to swiftness and few movement skills, unlike warriors who can travel the map faster than any other class.
speaking from a PvE perspective Mesmers aren’t known for their DPS, they’re mostly taken into dungeons/fractals for the utility they bring. If you want to focus on damage, I’d say go elementalist or thief, both of which can out DPS your warrior, and provide a lot of support for your groups (might/fury, blasts, stealth, combo fields, etc) but are considerably harder to play well.
I don’t enjoy PvP, just PvE. Thanks for answers and I think I’ll do mesmer.
I just downloaded Guild Wars 2 after long break (about 10 months) and wanna make a new character. I have one 80, charr warrior. I’m thinking about mesmer but I am not sure about it. Is mesmer good at the moment or you can tell me something better? I’m gotta focus at dealing damage mostly and not to make another one who uses heavy armor so not guardian. If someone answers it will be nice.
