I am currently really struggling to decide if I really want to change my Berserker’s stats to Commander’s or not.

The boon duration increase would be a maximum of 26.4%.
This would get my total boon duration in a raid to 96.4% compared to the current 70%.

I don’t think the loss of crit damage on a Chronomancer is that big of a difference since you have a low base damage and the lowest damage of the party anyway.

But I have more of a problem with the increase of toughness since it could mess with your party setup.

So overall you don’t need Commander’s stats for keeping up your quickness, but it’s always nice to get as much out of it as you can.

So what’s your opinion on it? Is it worth it? Does the increased toughness bother you?

I hear it’s one of the best stat sets for tanking on a chrono, toughness to hold agro, boon duration for the usual etc

Sure if you’re the aggro taker it’s very nice to have the toughness, but not in every raid you have to take aggro and then you’re stuck with toughness.

When I have no toughness I just change the Amulet and Rings and there I go with most toughness since nobody should have much more than the standard 1k.

That’s basically my concern about the toughness.

You have 50% boonduration from your herald, and another easy 20% from food. That means you need another 30%. You have 2 possible ways to do that:

a) Sigil of Concentration.
Pros: uses berserker/assassins equip, can be played everywhere by simply switching trinkets.
Cons: Awkward to play. You have to time your weapon swaps. But not that bad once you get used to it.

b) Commander armor + Weapon + bountifull sharpening stones.
Pros: perma 100% boon duration, ez mode.
Cons: Bad for non tanking, needs more expensive utility food.

Short answer: No.

Long answer:

Your goal with Chrono is, of course, to hit the boon cap of 100%. However, you want to impact your stats as little as possible while doing this. Since you can pretty much rely on any decent raid having 1 or more revenants for the 50% boon duration, you only need to cover the other 50%. There are two methods to achieve this with as little impact to your stats as possible:

1) Use 5x Rune of Surging with 1 Platinum Doubloon along with 20% boon duration food and 10% boon duration utility buff.

2) Use a Sigil of Concentration with a 20% boon duration food.

The advantage of method 1 is that you have more flexibility in your rotation and don’t have to worry about fitting in everything within the 7s window of swapping weapons. The advantage of method 2 is that you can utilize Runes of the Chronomancer with Signet of Inspiration for additional quickness.

One thing to note is that you can run Runes of the Chrono for more quickness, but if you go with 3 wells instead, you have more alacrity to share.

While you can use Commander armor for boon duration, there’s two disadvantages to this:
1) If you’re not tanking, the toughness on your gear is wasted. Considering that no tank is needed for Sabetha, unless you have a second set of gear, the toughness will be wasted on this fight, even if you join the raid as a tank.
2) Commander gear is tougher to get than Zerk/Sinister and ideally, you’ll want to have it as a second set, rather than as your only set of gear.

If you plan on tanking, you can always use your standard Zerk/Sinister armor and weapons, but just swap in some Knight’s trinkets to get the toughness needed for aggro, so even when tanking, you don’t need Commander armor.
