A while back a statement was made, by a developer re this.

“Josh Foreman.8250:

. But after I handed the map off to someone else, I know we changed our policy so that no JPs are required for events, map complete, etc. "

So what is the “policy”? I know of 3, Scaffolds, Breached Wall, and Viziers Tower that require you to finish a Jumping Puzzle to reach vistas and skill points.

I thought that JPs were to be optional activities. They are not, unless you wish to be gated from zone completions, world completion, and legendary crafting. I suppose all those are “optional” too.

I have a severe motor skills handicap, Rhuematoid Arthritus and nodules in my hands, so please spare me any lecture regarding how “easy” they are, please. I had trepidations before buying this game, knowing my motor skills would not be up to platforming. I foolishly took the “optional activities” statements as fact, without researching the actual need to do them.

Ley lines. The perfect solution to deadlines and writers block. Now in an easy open Can.

Don’t take me wrong here, I agree that putting vistas and skill challenges in jumping puzzles ain’t the best idea ever. And I understand how they’re not doable for someone with a condition like yours. It sucks.

But I sincerely wonder why you feel you need to complete these activities to fully enjoy the game. Because the only thing that actually requires them to do, is craft a legendary and honestly, that IS optional and not for everyone (it requires more investment of time and in-game resources than many completely healthy players can spend).

A workaround, if you don’t want to give up crafting a legendary in the end, might be asking a sibling / friend / etc to do the jumping puzzles needed for world completion?

Honestly I would like to say that a game as dynamic as gw2 isn’t your thing but that would be just unfair.
I personally enjoy jumping puzzles and would like to see more of them in, for example dungeons and such, but then there are people who have several handicaps that need to be taken into consideration. Asking for help is a great way to socialize and I think that is the main goal of the whole mmorpg concept.
I remember seeing this one post couple of weeks back where a red/green color blind person was complaining about the AOE circles. Also there was a guy who wanted spiders to be removed from the game because his girlfriend had arachnophobia.
The small minority is hard to take into consideration because there are just too many people enjoying these things as they are.
It’s good that you brought this up and posts like this are important to the developers since they help to make the world more compatible for people with issues such as yourself. Opinions are tricky to deal with since they vary with each individual. As I said before: I personally enjoy jumping puzzles and would like to see them more in story quests, dungeons and events, but that’s just my opinion. You could accept that jumping puzzles are part of this game and that not everyone can be pleased but it’s important to make yourself heard just in case you will be able to make a difference.

I have a level 80 Mesmer and love doing jumping puzzles, so will gladly offer my services to anyone in the game wanting help, assuming I’m online and not otherwsie occupied.
Okay, it’s more of a workaround than a solution, but it helps.

I’m on Ring of Fire in Europe. Feel free to message me in game if you’d like me to help you out.

Please note that due to restrictions placed on my account, I am only allowed 1 post per hour.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.

In addition to enlisting the aid of a mesmer, try leveling an engineer. The fifth rifle skill is jump shot, which can get you across pretty much any jump in the game. You’d have to wait for it to recharge, but it’s just a ground targeted skill. This should help you immesurably.

We have a guy in our guild with a disability who has trouble with jumping puzzles, one of the reasons he rolled an engineer.

And again, getting a mesmer to help would be great, because a lot of jumps you could be portaled through.

I think that (probably even in the same interview) he agreed that they goofed up with the placement of some vistas (e.g. the one in drege haunt cliffs) and that they will change this in the future.
