With the new Quaggan backpack coming out this got me thinking on backslot transmutations.

What if you have an ascended backslot and then transmute it.

Later you decide to infuse the backslot through the mystic forge. Does this action destroy the current skin on the item?

I can imagine alot of people may want to take warning and understand this before buying cosmetic items then transmuting them to a backslot only to upgrade their item in the forge and destroy the skin.

Clarification on this would be appreciated.

Mystic forging items clears the item.

For example: Using the mystic forge on a soulbound ascended ring to get the infused version will unsoulbind it and clear out any infusion in it.

In essence the forge destroys what you put in it and gives you a brand new widget.

So my guess would be. Don’t transmute till you have the level of upgrade you ultimately desire.

I thought so, so realistically people can’t really use the quaggan backpack until they have the maximum infused backslot possible. Which is over 300 ectos + hundreds of fractals, globs, etc.

Unless they buy multiple backpacks per tier.

I am sure players are not aware of this and before the update it would be wise for ANET to do something, place a warning, or change the system otherwise there will be a flood of forum posts and support tickets about destroyed items.

Ah, can’t wait to see fight with elder dragon with score of heroes wearing baby quaggan on back Or guilds which require from you to have it =)
As for adding to thread – is transmutation of backslot available now?

I’m pretty sure that transmuted items do not qualify for Mystic Forge infusion upgrade anyway (in similar ways as transmuted precursors are no longer viable for legendary crafting)

Actions, not words.
