So for HoT will there be a class change token that gives equal gear to what one has on the new class?

Tired of forcing thief to work but with all the hours dumped into it I feel kinda forced to play it.

I’d appreciate it too. I have world completion on my mesmer, and I enjoy the class, but if chronomancer goes the way that it’s currently looking like it will, and ends up being turned into a well spamming alacrity bot, I’d rather spend the hero points on something else. The thief’s elite spec looks nice, outside of the placeholder animations.

I’m in the same boat about thief. But asking for an item to basically merge what you have (map comp, HP etc) to another profession is a ridiculous request xD
Put the time into another profession, that’s my plan for revenant. I’m currently daily crafting for the ascended gear and route plotting for fasttrack map completion.

+1 for abandoning the Thief ship.

Daredevil was fun for an hour of dodging and running around constantly. Then I came to the realization that Daredevil has no damage and hits like a wet noodle even with berserker gear.

PVP? Good luck taking any one down unless another class does most of the work for you.

PVE? Didn’t Arena net say dodging wasn’t going to be needed for raids? A daredevil who only just dodges around constantly and nothing else, what is left?

Yeah, not going to happen. This game is already pretty alt friendly. There’s little reason to completely ditch your current class when making a whole other toon is free.

@Blood I do agree with you, however, there is reason: alt unfriendliness. Let me expand

1) /age of character… annual birthday is done per character, not account. This means I have a ranger that i made on day 1 that I still have not deleted and will never ever play again after I abandoned her 3 weeks into the game

2) If you transferred gold to gems for bag slots…. bag slots are account bound

3) gem store harvesting tools can only be used by one character at a time (not so much of an arguement here, as these could just be moved across to the most active toon)

4) Weapon incompatibilities. So what? you have predator… gz.. you can use that on your faceroll warrior or engy…. but sick of playing them after nerfs/changes? if you now do another toon, you can no longer use this 3k gold weapon or skin

Its not fun and games with ‘alt friendliness’ I have 14 tons, and have levelled over 16 to 80 (yes, and proceeded to delete for new ones). They are a complete gold sink, and character slots cost a lot too (although since all the ascended updates, they pay themselves back with ~60 hours play time)

I have a level 80 of every class. But world completion let alone gearing them with ascended and legendaries just takes too much time.

But ascended and legendaries shouldnt matter in the slightest if you decide to change main, seeing as they are accountbound and can thus just be move to the new one.

lordkrall… yeah, this would be fine IF:

for ascended) you have toons of the same armour weight and build. This is fine for the current Meta where zerk+strength runes are everything, but otherwise not. I cant use my sinister gear with burning runes and pistols (engy) on my thief who has no burn capability, or on ranger who cannot use pistols.

for legendaries) this is fine if you have sunrise/twilight/bifrost because the majority of classes can/will be able to use them when HoT lands. Predator and dreamer, still only two classes.

I don’t believe you can transfer medium armor ascended to a light or heavy armored profession.

I don’t believe all classes share the same weapon sets. So that throws out transferring legendaries as well.

You can of course, you know, change the stats if the current stat-setup doesn’t work for your new character.

But, sure using it on characters that can’t use the same items could be seen at an issue. But on the other hand, being able to magically change your items to other items could be very bad for the economy, seeing as it might very well end up being cheaper to just do that than to craft the item you wanted in the first place.

For Arena net pushing for us to be diverse with our builds (‘The berserker meta is dead’ lol). You’d think having builds less accessible than others goes against that? Thus also sending us back to the position of it takes too long to appropriately gear characters.

The sad thing is I suspected thief issues motivated the thread before actually opening it. Since it was actually explicitly mentioned that just confirms it.

I’d actually like that quite a bit, I’d save a lot of time and gold converting medium to light armor so I’d need to just make two medium sets (thick leather is ludicrously cheaper than silk) instead of a medium and a very expensive light set.

Hmm I have 18 characters,15 with all hero points…

I can have 1 or 2 of ANY class… or specialisation. Now it’s just about figuring out what will be better, and what not.

My DPS warrior will be warrior, My hybrid warrior will definately go berserker, with sinister gear… The things are not mandatory…

I have a feeling that good thieves will find a way to play Daredevil effectively in PvP and then suddenly everyone will be on here talking about how OP thief is and that they are impossible to kill. We shall see.

This is basically what I’ve been doing. It doesn’t take long to get to 80, especially with tomes and writs. I won’t say it never gets boring, but at least I have a character waiting for me whenever I feel like screwing around on a particular class.
