Class specific weapons in core tyria
I’m not sure what to make of this idea. While I like the idea of a “specialization weapon”-style scavenger hunt in Central Tyria, that sounds a lot like the precursor scavenger hunt in practice. (Albeit less expensive. Maybe the scavenger hunt for an unpopular precursor, like Venom?)
I don’t think “populating the dungeon part of the game” is a priority right now, since there is no dedicated dungeon team, no future plans to expand on dungeons, and dungeon rewards were nerfed pretty hard.
I think the f2p players should work to buying the game to support anet and get all the features. I have no problem with a mastery gate behind the current class weapons. I find the most painful part the rareness/cost of getting the reclaimed scraps. I don’t think at this time any thing should be tied to dungeons. The AMA mentioned reviewing rewards, so things may change.
Perhaps instead of ascended weapons, there could be a collection method for an exotic gear box and a choice of class specific runes. I don’t believe this would unbalance anything, and I feel it could be another way to incentivize map expiration at 80. I don’t think this would devalue the work so many have put into ascended pieces by flooding them with new types.
@redenaz yeah the dungeon part had me sceptical too, but even if they don’t support it, no one can deny that it’s there and it’s a very big part of gw2. So, why not use the tools at your disposal..I couldn’t come up with something else challenging enough for that purpose in core tyria, and dungeons fit that purpose xd
@deedrick well I see your point about f2p players and I don’t agree with it completely; f2p is there and if you claim that something’s f2p you should treat it as one, not limit every game aspect to the point that someone’s forced to buy the game to experience it; but what’s f2p and what’s not, is a completely different topic that i want to avoid altogether xD let’s just agree to disagree on this one
regarding accessibility of ascended weapons, I would disagree with you, ascended is extremely easy to come by through fractals and raids (as well as elite spec weapons) without crafting anything at all. I don’t suggest that it should be given for free, that’s for sure, but the amount of effort I put on getting the elite spec weapon seemed reasonable enough(as a point of reference)
Your definition of easy is subjective. What about those who can’t raid. What about those who are on RNG’s kitten list? I beg to differ and say the only way to get them for sure, is crafting. And that in itself requires buying gold to get mats, or a lot of work to farm the mats.
I really don’t mind ap that gives ascended rewards, but Anet should make it somewhat challenging to get and keep it well in check. Look at how they protect the leg precursors with those collections, and tell me honestly ascended shouldn’t be protected to a lesser level as well.
Exotics though... I don’t fee may really could complain about that level of gear.
I would never complain about more weapons but I don’t think content should be added with the intention of sating F2P accounts.
If something gets added for other reasons and is not locked out to them (as with some of the HoT stuff) that’s one thing but if it is something specifically catering to them that’s another entirely

Hm no, what i meant is not to sate f2p accounts, rather to extend a HoT feature to the rest of the gw2; the fact you were rewarded for playing and exploring HoT and doing map events and chasing after the weapon of your class, that’s something that would make more sense to me to have when you level a character, learn everything there is to it, then start making your class weapon as the ultimate goal; that kind of way. It would also serve as a reward of playing in core tyria, not hit 80, then jump to HoT. If it remains accessible to f2p or not, it’s not my decision anyways to make.
