Okay, I thought of rolling me another alt. Though to make it interesting, I am making one inspired by Shiroe from Log Horizon (I love that show). If I recall, he’s an enchanter who works best in support rather than head on combat. Would that be the equivalent to the Guardian in this game? I’d like your insight on this.

Before you begin on your road to becoming a support character, remember that pure support aren’t very useful in PVE.

However, support characters are excellent in both PVP and WvW, so if you want your support to really shine, play PVP.

As to which profession, lots of them offer good support options, Elementalists, Guardians and Warriors provide some excellent Support

Guardian + boon duration, Celestial gear and most parties will still take you.

Avoid Clerics and don’t try to be a healer, only a buffer.

That’s the plan, really. Shame though that there isn’t anything resembling robes for Guardians. And while I am aware that they are heavy armor types but something flowy would be nice. :/

Draconic Leggings is a long cloth skirt, so you should check that for that type of Guardian.

Elementalists are great Supporters, both Aura Share and Staff Heal/Support Variants, although usually Staff Eles are expected to be DPSers mostly in PVE. Also Elementalists can “buff” their allies with Conjured Weapons offering some great options to buff your allies.

Enchanters, in GW1, some mesmer NPCs were called “Enchanters”.

Perhaps better name would be “Buffer”

Any profession can work as a Support, but there are limitations for each class…
Example: Warriors have excellent offensive support but very weak healing capabilities,
while Elementalists have more flexible choices, can heal alot with right traits and gear, provide auras, conjures and so on.
Dunno about Guardians being “enchanters” tho, but they’re designed for Support anyway.

But yea, Support (and Control) builds have very little use in PvE, due to 99% of mobs dying in 1-3 seconds (possible even before the mobs spawn and activate) with only full berserker and DPS builds…

It’s DPS for majority of PvE, until ANet decides to fix their mob designs.

I’m a casual PvE adventurer, I enjoy combat, adventure and helping, but not farming.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.

First off, if you’re trying to base your character off an Anime, you’re not going to have a good time.

Secondly, if you’re trying to base your character off an MMORPG, you’re not going to have a good time.

Thirdly, nothing in GW2 is similar to an Enchanter (particularly since in the Anime, they only have 3 skills).

If you understand this and truly want to continue, then you’re not going to have a good time.
The Vine Attack that Shiroe casts is similar to Virtue of Justice (not really) since it improves the damage of a single strike. You could also say that Frost Spirit does the same thing. Neither of them will add a significant amount of damage, rivaling Shiroe.

There is no reason to light up an area bar jumping puzzles, so that’s somewhat unnecessary. However, blinding players is always an option. Guardians do have decent access to blinds, but Thieves have more.

If you’re unsatisfied, I would highly suggest playing another MMORPG that you research to have a class like Shiroe. He’s based on a generic MMO, and GW2 is not a generic MMO.
