I’d like to find out if after the patch the transmutation stone rewards at map completion and in the personal story will be converted to transmute charge rewards, and if so would it be 1 stone/1 charge or 1/3 as in one would only get one charge for every third stone reward pre patch.
So would it be better to collect all available stones before April 15th to trade 3/1 for charges or rather wait till after the patch to get a better exchange rate?

On the official wiki, it states under the ‘Transmutation Charges’ topic that you can obtain them as so:

- Gem Store
- Black Lion Chest (Unlocked)
- Daily reward chests

Converting transmutation consumables into charges. Double-clicking an item will convert it, and the charge will be added to the currency wallet.

Bear in mind the wiki itself states, this is on a topic that is “still in development and subject to change”.

I tried to find where the wiki got the information regarding Daily Reward chests, but couldn’t find anything. It could be every day like laurels, could be random like stones. I don’t think even if this does change, that it’ll ever be Gem Store only though, so don’t worry about that.

I don’t think there would be a better exchange rate after the patch. If anything, there is a big risk that the map rewards will be nerfed. So I suggest doing map completion now before April 15th.

Better do it now. While i’d like the charges to remain as a reward for map completion, i have noticed that Anet was very quiet on how the charges will be obtained – which likely means gemshop only.

No one knows the details of all this yet. No one knows if they are going to change the map completion rewards to reflect the new lower values. They might, they may even probably will, or they may remove them from map completion completely and make them gemstore purchase only. Do whichever you prefer, it’s a gamble either way.

Best practice is to play it safe and stock up on map completions now.

I’m afraid the laws of physics makes it physically impossible to grab a hat and put it in your mouth. You can try but it’ll just end up on top of your head :p

Look at it this way – if you do it now, you know what you will get. If you do it later, you don’t know what you will get. Very probably, what you will get later is different than what you will get now (since the whole notion of transmutation stones is being phased out). The only reason to wait would be if you think what you get later will be BETTER than what you get now. If it were going to be better, they would have already told us about it to generate excitement. Because they haven’t, my guess is, unfortunately, that it is going to be worse.

Conclusion: Do it now.

or they will remove it from map completion and only reward Black Lion Chest Keys, either ways it’s a win win for you

I can tell from experience it’s an occasional drop, maybe 1 in 10 dailies you’ll get 1~3 Transmutation Stones.

Oh yeah, know about the current stones, get some myself every once in a while. What I meant was, unsure if it’ll be the same system as we have now or slightly different when it changes to charges – I can imagine that when the wardrobe feature comes out, there’ll be a high demand for them in the beginning, and as we progress the demand will slow down a bit.

But, I think the demand will always be higher than transmutation stones & crystals ever were, even when the demand does die down.

Edit: And yes – as people have said, err on the side of caution and stock up some stones & crystals while you still can.
