One thing that has not been explained is this. Instead of launching a massive bombshell by saying no more legendaries, because it’s too much work, why didn’t Anet do the following:

Why not release the legendaries as planned, but forgoe the collection side of things for now? That is, go back to vanilla style, getting a pre in the mystic forge and add in the collections for an alternative route later when you can allocate resources to it.

It seems such a bizarre decision to abandon all that work and create such ill feeling towards the playerbase. I’m sure the models exists for every single one of the new legendary weapons. Let’s face it you guys can produce beautiful BL sets EVERY fortnight..whole sets. What is a legendary, but a weapon with a few more animations? Heck some of the BL weapons look more legendary than legendaries!!!

If it is just the collection side of things that is causing headaches, why not do as suggested above? Also, I thought the mace was closest to being finished. It’s even worse that the last Legendary for the foreseeable future is a weapon that only TWO classes can use…and only one effectively.

Not much shakes me to the core regarding this game, but this decision makes me worry for the future of the game. There must be more to it than we are being told.

As soon as you introduce the new precursors as RNG or MF drops, then you need to be able to trade them. This opens up the whole argument about TP price manipulation by the 1%ers and what not, the very thing that the “journey” was attempting to prevent by putting the power in the hands of those that want the precursor and not the ones who happen to have them.

Sure they were still expensive but because they use a range of mats that are frequently used elsewhere, it’s more difficult for other players to dictate the price. It also eliminated the notion of “luck”. Players who were “lucky” and the rest who were “unlucky”. Nobody wants to be in the 2nd group. Collections brought a sense of fairness, as everyone who wanted X didn’t need RNGesus to smile upon them or feel the need to farm up a ton of gold to TP one (just the mats for the collections that you could, in theory simply collect on your own).

We are heroes. This is what we do!
