So I just found out about there being a Heroic Edition Digital Download that comes with stuff that myself (being a collectors edition owner) didn’t get.

Surely (if anyone) collectors edition owners should be credited with these free gifts and any future free gifts.

I can’t help but feel a little robbed and cheated.

You bought the collectors edition knowing what was in it, and it never stated that you would get other stuff in the future if they decided to do other promotions. You are not entitled to anything else new in any other promotion. It isn’t even a ethical issue, Arenanet are not obligated, not even ethically, because they are not doing anything ethically wrong.

Yeah, clearly some digital items are better then all that stuff, and is a scam /rolleyes

Dish Network is offering a free Ipad 2 to new customers, all those years of new customers coming in to Dish prior to Ipad 2 promotion, under a different promotion was a scam as well?

The Heroic edition has a Mithril box, 10 xp boosters and a suit of legacy armor. Who needs that mithril box or those xp boosters? I’ve got tons. The only thing you miss out on can be bought in the gem store.

The limited collectors edition was actually pretty limited. I remember that I had to move heaven and earth here in Belgium to get my hands on one of the few available copies.

Nothing in this heroic edition can in any way outrank the stuff that was in the limited edition. Nothing!

This is just complaining for the sake of it, which has rapidly become the unofficial e-sport of GW2.

OP, give me ALL your collectors edition stuff. I’ll buy you a heroic edition myself.

Yep all were sold out in belgium, i had to order in UK. I bought one of the last of ‘barkham’ shop.

And really man, XP boosters? you don’t need them, you lvled already, and if you’ve done decent AP points, you got tons of them from chests. Mithril? dont make me laugh. And legacy armor can be bought, it’s no big deal, you had 1 year to farm the 34g necessary for it. Stop complaining for the sake of complaining. We got our unique legendary you know. With the recent boost to it, i actually use it sometimes (especially on engie, cause only supply crate is worthy elite on their profession).

Already asked a LOT in this forum, reply was basically “not gonna happen” (of course, in more diplomatic words, will try to find the actual post), which makes sense… if you see a cell phone store where you bought your cell phone last year and find out they’re now including a free SD card with each phone purchased, you don’t go there requesting a free SD card or expect them to call everyone that ever purchased a cell phone from them to give them free SD cards, for example.

Maybe they could make a deal, though… you get the free stuff, but so it isn’t considered a scam, you get a one year suspension on your account to count towards the year of gameplay you got that whoever gets the heroic edition right now didn’t get..

So lucky I don’t live in Belgium anymore … still had to scramble for the game.

although in Germany I had to place preorders at Mediamarkt … I swore never to buy anything at Mediamarkt again. Guild Wars makes me break expensive oats.

The first unofficial e-sport of GW2 was getting your hands on a CE box.

First off, gifts are, by definition, free. Saying “free gift” is redundant.

Second, name one business that would award you with something a year after you bought the original product. You can’t. Why? Because that’s bad business.

Sorry you feel “robbed and cheated”, but you got what you paid for, knowing what you were paying for, when you paid for it. You are wrong.

Heritage armor can not be bought in the gem store, unless I am missing something here you are saying. If it could, I would have the medium set on several toons.

The Legacy armor from the Heroic Edition is not Heritage armor. Heritage armor can only be acquired via HOM. Legacy armor = a choice between Profane, Krytan or Primeval armor, which can be obtained in the gem store.

As far as the original topic…Collector’s Edition was a Digital Deluxe with extra IRL goodies. To claim that the Collector’s Edition buyers were robbed would mean that the Digital Deluxe buyers were robbed too. Sure it certainly would have been nice for ArenaNet to give all pre-existing Digital Deluxe and Collector’s Edition folk the Legacy armor, Mithril Box and XP boosters. But that’s the opportunity cost we pay for buying the game at launch.

As a Collector’s Edition owner, I don’t feel robbed in any way, shape or form. Considering the following…

-The cool goodies I got with the Collector’s Edition,
-Being able to participate in the BWEs,
-Being able to play at headstart,
-Being there then the game launched,
-All time I’ve invested in the game since launch (including 5 level 80s),

…I’d say I’ve gotten MORE than my money’s worth. And most of those are experiences/goodies that new players will simply not be able to get with the Heroic Edition.

Good on ArenaNet to keep giving incentives to entice new players to pick up the game and not feel completely left behind because they don’t have as much time invested in the game as players who have been in the game since launch.
