The colocal would make an awesome ranger pet. Sort of like a really ugly and mean but endearing junk yard dog.

There are lots of animals out there that could be fun pets but we can’t yet unlock, like the rock dog. At least those can be tamed by the ogres, so surely they could teach us how to do it!

Other random animals off the top of my head:
-Raptors. Too much like moas, but mentioned for completion.
-Bats. They’re kind of nasty, but we don’t have a lot of flying pets.
-Sea Turtle. These were only found in non-Risen variety by Ember Bay, but no one would turn them down.
-Skales. I’m pretty sure skales aren’t tamable, and they’ve been around since pre-Searing Ascalon.
-Melandru’s Prowler. Probably not different from regular panthers, but MELANDRU’S PROWLER!
-Beetle. This one is probably the hardest (pun half-intended) to justify, but hylek can ride beetles, so they can clearly be cowed.
-Other devourer breeds. There’s two available already, but I think there are other breeds out there.

That’s good enough for now. Maybe if I come across other species in my journey, I’ll add to the list.

Land: I’ve wanted Griffons ever since I first encountered them. Another ogre pet we can’t charm.
Aquatic: Dolphins! Come on, they’re both cute and darn viscious! They kill sharks!

I always wondered why this game doesn’t provide country dogs or perhaps a classical dog. Rock dogs should have those fuzzy paw bands and long, grungy fur

As for raptors, they should be for Necros, not rangers. A summoned swarm of Pocket Raptor minions would be fun for a bleed necro.

There was actually datamining done that showed the devs actually planned on making Beetle pets for Rangers at one point. They found a pet window text description for one of them (the giant / horned one, I believe) alongside all the other pet descriptions. A Pocket Raptor description was also found, I believe.

Really a shame that they didn’t go forward with that idea. I’ve wanted a beetle pet ever since they introduced beetles to the game. There’s even some non-hostile young Beetles in the Silverwastes (the Far Silverwastes area) which was a total tease when I first found them.

I’m not sure we’ll ever get any already-existing animals added as new Ranger pets. To date we’ve never gotten one, every new pet has always been a newly-added creature. There are definitely some existing creatures I’d love to see as pets, though.

Beetles, obviously. Skales / Skelk. Wind Riders. Wurms (even though they’d probably be terrible). Grubs. Deep Sea Scorpions. Thundershrimp. Sea Turtles. Griffons. Raptors. Bats. Fireflies. Crabs.

Isn’t there a Heart in Ascalon with Charr taming skales?

I’d love that. I usually like to match my ranger’s pet with her mini and I have already gotten matching minis for most of her pets. I think that a colocal “combo” would be awesome.

Sort of. The Asura are helping, so they can wage Full Skale War against the Separatists. (And yes, the game makes that pun). But even then, it’s not so much taming them as neurologically shocking them into docility, dragging them to the target, then making them go rampant (Though the game prevents them from going hostile to players for mechanical limitation reasons)

I guess I was thinking of Skelk at the Help Raintimber Mill heart in Diessa. I looked at the Wiki and Skelk are separate from Skale although they seem similar to me.

There are a lot of creatures that I think would make legitimately good pets. Skelk, Warg, Minotaur and Wasps to name a few.

Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s on ANet’s to-do list.
