Coming back: I'm waiting for...
Yet, I don’t have a class that’d be exciting to play and inventive to develop. I’m waiting for new classes being added or new ways to grow the combat abilities of my characters. I watch the GW2 news to hear about the great new branches of combat we can explore, but I don’t see any hints of anything coming up.
Anet are probably trying to work out how best to cash shop a new profession with re-coloured skills no doubt (I sense blue-ish aoe). Gearbox have added two professions and 4 expansion dlc but what do we get free from Anet? Confusing, required 3rd party sites to get anywhere achievement hamster wheel fests.
Let me know when something solid and memorable comes along, in the mean time I’l be having fun elsewhere.

Colin Johanson said that the main plan for the rest of 2013 is to get some great content out there. From what you’ve said, you’d be interested in new skills and traits, which is what they intend to release. No exact ETA, but I’m excited that it’ll be released this year at the very least.
He also mentioned adding a new heavy armor profession to round out everything (each armor class has 3, except heavy). I can only speculate that it’ll be something darker, given the nature of each class.
Light – Guardian, Ranger, Elementalist
Neutral – Warrior, Engineer, Mesmer
Dark – Thief, Necromancer
And it’ll probably possess weapons that the other two don’t use, which includes daggers, scepters, pistols, torches, and shortbow.
Whatever it is, I’m pretty excited for what the rest of 2013 holds!
Everyone needs a little optimism!

Hey Azunai, do you have a link for a quote about skills and traits?
I may not understand design lingo very well, but I wouldn’t include such things under the title “content”. If CJ has mentioned new skills/traits, I’d really like to see that.
they didn’t mention specific skills or weapon, but yes they mentioned that their plan is to add new weapon to the existing classes and if i remember correctly even new skills for the existing one (on the latter i’ really not sure) you can find all of this in the gw2 blog

Hi,
There havent been any mention of a new class. But by the end of 2013, as per CJ, he states that there will be new skills to be purchased via skill points. We do not know what these skills are, if they are class specific or universal for any class, or how much each skill will cost. No information yet. You can find it on the home page, somewhere in the blog. Probably a few pages back. He posted this a few weeks ago.
As far as content goes for the last few months: Living Story is pretty weak. The current one is probably the best so far, but it does have its flaws. It funnels everyone into one zone to farm. Farm farm farm. Thats all we are doing is farming for $$ and mats. The living stories themselves feel disjointed, poorly told(with the exception of the current one). We have no new dungeons and we do not have the promised dungeon revamp(the changes to boss mechanics we were told we would get… not sure there is even a dungeon team anymore). They did change the reward system for dungeons which removed the COF P1 farm, and made all paths a bit more viable.
Achievement points now mean something, but now people complete living stories for achievements (like me) so that at certain intervals I am rewarded. Eh, I wouldnt say I do it soley for AP. But the AP rewards are nice and always in the back of my mind.
Overall, in my opinion, take away these points:
-Living Story is weak and is not what people asked for…but it is getting better.
-We still do not have the dungeon mechanic revamp.
-There is hardly any real ‘threat’ to tyria (like zhaitan was), so killing these invasions with this LS is merely a farm.
-Achievement points are now worth something
-More dungeon paths are viable now, and dungeons are pretty rewarding to run
-Slowly, we are seeing more class builds and less pure zerkers
-Purchasable skills are coming
-We’ve had lots of RNG in the past few months, but they are moving away from it
-Lots of temp content, but they said they will put in more perma.
-Arenanet has created the “need” for you to complete everything in the LS because of the acheivement points and chests you get. Otherwise, one does feel behind.
Just my 2 cents
Zhaithan was a threat only in the personal story, it never was a threat outside it and never involved all the players in the server.
in videogames threats don’t really exist, because even if we fail we still win it is mostly a gameplay issue. if we should have real threats (meaning city destroyed, characters really dying) it would be impossible for us to some things and new players would suffer from it (immagine lion’s arch sieged by pirates, with no npc left alive and the mystic toilet downed for good… how would we trade, craft, socialize, mystic forge? and even if we can do for a while without, wouldn’t be annoying for a new player to do all this things in a different place where there is a level required gate at least?)

Hey all,
I just thought I’d clarify that as the aforementioned boyfriend, I’m not really playing again, not exactly.
Like FacesOfMu, I’m trying to give the game another chance to draw me in to its beautifully rendered world, in spite of the twitchy action-arcade and combat-centric mechanics that don’t really suit what I enjoy in persistent world gaming. I’m not so much looking for new skills and classes (though that would be delightful), so much as ways to feel like an individual living in and exploring Tyria, rather than levelling through ‘zones’ to end game.
I’d love to see new roles or tactic options in combat that don’t involve constant kiting and dodging to prevent spending most of your time downed on the ground, and finally upscaling for the open world so that you really can explore anywhere you like. I’d like to see less of the generic “personal” story instancing keeping my moral choices and character growth decisions artificially enclosed inside anti-immersive bubbles – I want to grow and change in the persistent world itself alongside other characters who are making completely different choices to me. And finally I want alternative systems for engaging with other players and the world around me, that have goals and rewards in themselves rather than tied to combat or combat equipment. I know jumping puzzles are somewhat in this vein, but they are even more twitchy and action-arcade than the combat.
I’ll keep an eye on GW2, but I don’t think I’m the target demographic for the game. At the moment, I’m really enjoying Wakfu instead.
The classes just need way more customization.
I’m looking forward to the new skills but I get the feeling it’s going to be a very very small addition, and after over a whole year after a release when the game really need more, I’m just doubtful. =[
