I’ve read a lot of bad things about the xpac but I’d like to return after a 6 month break. I have 6 lvl 80s but was thinking of starting from scratch. Maybe an engi! How are they these days? Is the xpac really that bad over all? How are the dungeon/fractal ques? How hard is it to get a raid spot? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

No it’s not all that bad.

Engis are quite fun with the scrapper.
Dungeons are dead. Good luck finding a pug to do them.
Fractals, easy enough to find people. They are supper quick to do these days as the are only one, instead of 3.
Raids, if you’ve not doing it, good luck getting a pug. You’ll be better off finding a guild and run it with them.

I like the new maps, but they do require a pretty large amount of time to play the map meta events. If you’re not sure how you like that, try playing Dry Top, or, especially, the Silverwastes for a while. HoT maps take the mechanical inspiration even further, so those maps make a pretty good preview.

Gliding is a ton of fun, and I found the story pretty enjoyable. There are some fair criticisms, although I’m hoping the Spring release (expected sometime in April, I think) to cut down on the grind a bit. We’ll have to see about that.

I haven’t done raiding, so I can’t say anything about that.

So no one runs the dungeon story mode or paths anymore? How come? Those and fractals were my favorite thing to do. So what do people do these days to fill there play time. Just map events, wvw, spvp?

The dungeons got a massive nerf hammer bash to the rewards as the raids where dropped in, wvw is dying out.. and yeh.. cant say much about pvp, dont do it myself

Before HoT launched, they cut the final gold reward for doing a path by 75%(so I’ve seen claimed, not done a dungeon since June or July last year) others have said you get 40-50 silver per patch depending on the dungeon. They did it to “balance the effort put in compared to fractals and raids” so they said. Fractals are super easy to do now. But yeah, most people just farm HoT maps or silver wastes. WvW is also dead for the most part, the new maps where not well received. PvP is currently in a bad way. If your good at PvP you’ll generally have a great time as you’ll be matches with much teams, if your average, you’ll have a bad day and lose way more than you’ll win.

Ok well thanks for the honest opinions. I’ve spent a lot of time in eso as of late but it looks like it’s back to FF14
