Ever since post feature pack 2 both WvW and Edge of the Mists has been flooded with commander tags in all colours. Most of them are just plain trolling, or showing off. This is very annoying if you just join the map, because you have no frickin idea which commander is the real deal.

Having account bound commander tags is really useful, too bad a small part of this games community is playing just to troll.

In my opinion Arenanet would be smart to add a function to report trolling commanders.

Hmmm, ummm, we need more colours! Where is green!?

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

Come on, people are just happy with that update and want to fool around with the new shiny next to other happy people on day 1.

Give it a week, most people will get used to it, the effect will wear off, and everything gonna get to normal, but better with new abilities

Are they trolling or just wearing a tag they paid for ?

I suppose, if you dont think that they should be allowed to use something they paid for, you could offer to pay them back for their expenditure in return for them taking down their tags.

I just want a toggle that allows me to not see commander tags.

Hate the new tags-visual diarrhea.

Rather than reporting tags, there should be an option implemented for the player to disable the tags (same as turning off player/npc names in the settings).

I would only turn them back on when I wanted to join an activity that requires a CMD for organization/leadership.

Thanks for the input so far..

Of course they are ‘wearing what they paid for’. But there’s a definition for the Commander tag: Using it to guide big groups of people in either WvW or PvE events.

In the cases which caused me to start this thread, there was already a commander doing this exact duty, so a second commander would be useless.

Where is this definition listed?

NO.

First people turn off commanders tags because they don’t like several days of happy people, then whole maps yell at hordes of clueless randoms who turned off chat and commander tags simply ’cause they could change “something” in options, and ruin Teq and Wurm runs for the rest of the map.

We’ve had it with chat lang filter. No, just no.

Making commander tags 75-50-25% opaque? Yeah, okay.

We’re now waiting for two things it seems:

  • Ability to block commander tag, when blocking the player (Of course you usually have good reason to block a player, so it’d be nice if blocking also removes the tag from being displayed to that player)
  • Option to enable/disable display of commander tags in minimap (No need to join a squad, if all commanders are just vanity commanders, they might suddenly leave and all the tags will burst back into the map, then it’s again the process to join one, until that also leaves. This setting would be enabled by default)
I’m a casual PvE adventurer, I enjoy combat, adventure and helping, but not farming.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.

Clueless randoms get what they get too bad!! CMDs could remind the 1 or 2 people who forget to turn on tags for teq and wurm. Otherwise give me the option to disable them. But we sure a heck don’t need them on 24/7 in every map.

So you are angry because people are playing with their new shinies on the day it came out?
How about you just chill the hell out and give it a day or two so people can have their fun with the harmless little icon over their heads that they earned.
And yes, they earned it… By getting the gold and the badges to buy it.

“If half as many people were half as brave in real life as they were online…
… The human race would never have to worry about be oppressed again.”
I think trolls should have their computers smashed. ’Its all part of the game. U mad bro?’

They have been using them in towns, and in area’s that dont need commanding even with just the blue ones.. to a lesser extent but this isn’t going to calm down in a couple days especially now with pertttty colors.. And it’s not harmless, it’s bright and cartoony and is an eye sore for the game asthetics in general to see these all over the map/mini-map and when you’re trying to enjoy the graphics you get those triangles everywhere.

Also what is a 100 gold and a few badges of honor? Most people bought them before they raised it to 300 and that’s fine, keep it off until you want to command. No one’s impressed that you spent some gold that’s easy to get nowadays, they will be impressed when you’re someone worth following.. and I had enough badges of honor by just getting achievement chests and not even stepping into WvW.

there is a way to fix all of the dorito map spam:

- give the player base the option to rate up or down commanders

commanders that have a high rating are those that contribute and know what they’re suppose to do during WvW, while those that have a negative rating will not get followed.

then again anyone could just rate up or down out of will, so maybe give everyone 1 vote per 2-3 months where ratings get cleaned. it might work.
