Is there an option to turn this off? It is MASSIVELY obtrusive.

I agree, it’s kind of annoying and it gets in the way.

I, personally, love being able to see my own tag. It’s nice, like being able to see and appreciate your own titles would be. I do agree that there should be an option to turn it on / off, though.

I never saw anyone suggested this – yet suggestions like item filtering on TP and the history of your completed dungeon paths is yet to be acknowledged…

I have wished for an option to turn it off since the first day I saw one floating around my LA map. And, today, while they were waiting for the new map to open it looked like a hoard of blue insects were infesting my map. Talk about MASSIVELY obtrusive!

There are times when I want to see a commander’s tag; however, if I have to look at it even when I don’t want to, so should he/she.

Give us all the option to turn it off, please.

I think the only problem is that the icon clashes with the environment, like a clown nose on the Mona Lisa. If the commander badge is made more useful, especially for PvE content such as world bosses, it would be very useful to see where the commander is without looking at the map. Above the avatar icons remind me of raid symbols.

It’s not even close, though. This is stuck dead in the center of your screen; when others tag up, you can just sort of ignore it. I agree that it’s annoying in dungeons, though.

Have to admit this was my first thought too. Other players have had to live with commanders leaving their tags on 24/7 since launch (or shortly after when people were able to afford them).

Maybe now it’s visible, and therefore annoying, to the commander too more will remember to turn it off unless they’re actually using it.

Edit: In fact that might explain why I’m in LA on Desolation, it’s full of people and the only commander tag I see is someone afk at the WvW portals. Makes a nice change to actually be able to see the Bank waypoint instead of having it buried in tags.

Hahahahaha I have a commander tag and have had it since pretty much the 3rd month of the game or so. I NEVER use it unless I am in WvW and need to use it there or in the rare cases it comes in handy in PvE. I think this is GOOD for all those “commanders” who run around with it on 24/7 just for the glory of it, serves you all right. :P

It’s still right in the way, if you’re, you know, actually doing something that requires the tag.

It’s also really annoying how far up it is, at least on my Guardian. It’s like twice as high up as my character is tall.

I would like a green one and a shield looking icon one so people know that I like to actually HOLD objectives in WvW. If they gave us different looking tags for different uses it could really help things, a few examples:

Shield – lets players know you like to build up towers/keeps and defend them so others may come and help do that.

Question mark – could be a good one for PvE for players who like to “mentor” others or who don’t mind answering questions from new players etc.

I’m sure there’s many they could come up with, in fact this was all discussed last year and I’m sure they had promised it was coming “soon” in one of their replies way back then and never came. :s

Similar suggestions were made in the commander CDI in the WvW forum. They were all ignored.
