Commander tag shapes
Not a bad idea. Custom shaped doritos… now only 500 gold.
Sounds like a good idea. That and having it like guild ranks with changeable rank titles and squad sub ranks would probably be useful.
I know, right? Colors? Distinguishable, serves it’s purpose, but still going to be boring to see after some time. Least there is more identity to the commander. Ideal shapes for this?
1. Diamond
2. Hearts
3. Clubs
4. Spades
5. Pear
Skull !!!
really !!^^
id buy that
other than that….
maybe a shield and two swords even if both are already in use
(guild recommendation trader and uh there are 25players in combat)
you could surely make the symbols not look the same
another quite simple symbol would be just a round Bubble
the class symbols would fit there quite good as well..
you could add a huge goldsink this way.. sure commanders 300 and colours for free but i shapes cost something …
Colors haven’t even been implemented yet. Let’s climb one hill at a time mmmkay.
These things could be implemented with colors. Colors is a simple thing to implement. Make a splash not just a dab.
Fun fact: I don’t even know how a dorito looks like, as I’ve never seen one. I might google it these days just because, but not right now.
Oh and another fun fact: Like a week ago or so, that topic actually came up in teamspeak, and I was told that the commander-tags actually don’t look like a dorito at all and people just call them doritos because they feel like it. Then again; I wouldn’t know (yet). ^^
That being said, I think different shapes would be a bad idea. It’s a commander-icon, and not some silly fashion-accessory.
Can i haz square

Pretty much. I do think they could’ve have added just a couple more colors though, but shapes are not necessary at all imo. There is no need for 12 or 16 or 20 different varieties of commander tag. The idea of colors is to make organizing easier to understand and accomplish. A plethora of different shape/color combinations, whether within a Meta or without, wouldn’t really accomplish this. I think we got a big victory with the few new colors we got and not having to shell out an extra 900g to use them so I’m pretty happy with it. If they need to add colors in the future, will they still charge us for this is my concern. I’d rather they just add 1 or 2 more colors before the patch is officially launched just to give a bit of wiggle room in the evet that 4 isn’t quite enough for different WvW maps/groups. I’m sure a ‘tag meta’ will be established within wvw and pve shortly and am looking forward to this change. Six colors would be perfect for things like Boss Blitz, etc.
Shapes will be introduced when Devs realise colors aren’t showing else than being “another” something.
Like it it’s a Siege squad, Main Force and Defender Squad
Until that, the community will make it’s own meta color myths.

I would rather see progressive tags for commanders that are successful in leading zergs, etc. For instance like this.

Just don’t make an Apple shaped one because they’ll sue you
I will just re-link what i posted in one other thread.
Right now GW2 is really lacking in the marking aspect.Yes i know that we are getting a few new coloured commander tags. That is good for a start. But we need more customization.Other MMOs let you mark people and ground with many icons and marks. For bigger groups/squads that is a great tool.Right now i can mark only one target. That’s not enought in my opinion.
Just look those links and see how much customization there is.

Right now GW2 has only THIS and that is absolutely not enough.Well Comander tags
Better to have this for targeting systems commander tags are made for maps different shapes will just get confusing with the other shapes on the map.
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)
Server : FA

This. Shapes communicate more meaning than colors. There would still need to be a lot of communication regarding which color does what. A sword symbol (or something) does a better job of indicating an offensive force than the color red.
Pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars, green clovers…
I think the commander tag is a step in the right direction. With account bound good commanders can now tag up and lead in ANY of their toons which gives good commanders the option to tag up even when not playing on their main. Color’s is a lot bigger then most people are making out to be this helps commanders who are leading train/event train to better coordinate with each other example yellow commander waits for scale event to start while blue leads large group for continue farm or purple tag for world boss train while red tags for champ farming train and WvW can have a more epic feel with more cooperation between assault groups etc.. but what I do agree with is raising the incentive to defend keeps.
I like the idea of different colored tags, but I think it would be even better to give in different shapes that isn’t resembling a dorito. I for some like diamond shaped tags.
it was already discussed during the relative CDI, and they said something like “that will require much more time but we can do it”.
For now, let’s enjoy the colors…
