Common Sense AKA World Bosses VS Condition
would make the casuals cry
So i just defeated The Shatterer for the 100th time, and i wasn’t able to hold it anymore.
How do you immobilize a dragon, or for that matter how do you blind it? And even if you manage it, is it worthwhile for the gameplay? I mean, it’s ridiculous that the dragon stomps on my character and i get a shameless “Miss” on me!
But my all time favorites are:
-Blinding the Tequaltl
-Burning the Fire ShamanNow, you might say i’m not a casual player but i would like to see more creatures, like the dredge (whom you can’t blind) so we get more challenge. (i know there are a few more) AND common sense please, regulate conditions on all world bosses or even on champions.
P.S.: I have no idea how Shatterer’s right side looks like.
-Burning Fire Elemental, kill it with fire atturnment :P
Getting serious, I totally agree with you. It makes no sense. Kill fire with fire, ice with water or whatever. It looks like boss fights (and normal mobs too) were thought and realized with feet.

Well, some professions get to deal more damage depending on how many conditions are on said target so it actually helps to immobilize and blind bosses with huge AOE and cleaves in that you get a DPS boost. I’m an engi so the trait Modified Ammunition comes to mind, but I’m sure there are other traits in other professions that also make use of condition counts.
One thing we need to all be aware of at yellow nameplate world bosses is that berserker’s doesn’t really work in those fights since you can’t crit on them and you get downed instantly if you’re in the path of their volley if you don’t have enough toughness/vitality. So you get reduced DPS as a whole because you get people trying to res you that could be hitting the boss.
So I pack a set of PVT armor with runes centered on increasing power or increasing my healing capabilities. If i’m soloing champs, killing mobs, zerging in WvW or running dungeons though, berserker armor is fine.

I didn’t know about these traits, yet it isn’t a mind changer for me. Too much fairness will end in boredom in any game after a long time.
Blinding the blind for 2% more dmg is out of question for me.
The condition/attunement use is totally stupid in GW2 at least GW1 had it right you HAD TO USE water/ice against fire and comparable anti/opposite-conditions(so to say) on creatures attuned a certain way, why it’s different here is beyond me other than to say VERY LAZY DESIGN.

Indeed.
I just came up with the idea of separating the casuals from the hardcore players BY SERVERS! What do you say?

And develop and maintain two different games for both types of servers? Bad idea.

Baaah, you broke my spirit.
Let’s not get into taking more abilities away from players than have already been taken away

It’s not taking away abilities, it’s creating a smarter combat, and make more of your skills actually useful, force more team-play, make some less wanted professions more appealing and such.

If your abilities is to set fire on a fire elemental, then yes, i would take that away. Let the ele’s change stance and summon ice bows for the rest.
I play as a guardian and i wouldn’t mind my only real threatening condi (burning) to be lost against such foe.
Immobile bosses should NOT be used often, some games use it once in a while, but apparently anet thought it was a good idea to make most (if not all) world bosses immobile….it wasn’t.
Always important to talk about common sense in fantasy.
