Close. Remove the lvl1, 2, and 3 posts and you are nearly to there.
Honestly, people that know the genre know how these things end.
Nothing stops you from going back to the previous lvls.
Nothing stops you from going back to the previous lvls.
Worse loot stops you from going back to previous levels.
And within a month or so, it will be:
Player 1: LF2M FoTM lvl10 full Ascended only
Player 2: LF1M FoTM lvl11 full Ascended only
Player 3: LF2M FoTM lvl13 full Ascended only
Player 4: LF3M FoTM lvl18 full Ascended only
Player 5: LF1M FoTM lvl12 full Ascended only
Player 6: LF2M FoTM lvl17 full Ascended only
Player 7: LF4M FoTM lvl 1 (this guy has been asking for about a day or so)
So at lvl 10 I’ll be getting 14 greens instead of 14 blues?
So at lvl 10 I’ll be getting 14 greens instead of 14 blues?
Those are irrelevant.
The higher the level, the better the chance at ascended mats, and that’s what people want. It’s not rocket science that people are going to want to take the quickest path to the best loot because that’s how it is in every MMO. No level 10 is going to want to do a level 1 fractal, not without some kind of outside incentive (helping a guild member, getting paid, etc…)
You’re assuming player skill with keep up with the difficulty. There will always be a portion of the player base at the lower levels.

If that were the intention, then they wouldn’t have added agony resistance.
And to think that I was convinced that adding in new tiers of gear would eventually divide the community. Little did I know, Anet was going to divide it long before it got to that point.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.

If Agony is the only thing that gets harder then you’re right. If the difference between lvl 1 and lvl 15 is only agony then you have a legitimate point.

I’ve gotten to level 5, and I have not noticed any kind of difficulty increase. It could change as I go higher, but from what I seen I am led to believe the difficulty will solely come from Agony.
Maybe they should give some incentive to run the lower ones then. Like running a lower lvl will increase the max level you can enter in brackets.

Not true. What happens is early comers get to the high difficulty, and then there is not enough critical mass to get past the first few difficulties any longer. Especially if gearflation makes higher difficulty easy and you have to grind a very gradually increasing difficulty curve on top of everything else.
It sucks for all Players. The who wants to play on high difficulty don’t find a group or have to wait hours on end in Lions Arch.
I’m serious thinking about just uninstalling GW2 and never look back. Don’t like to wait hours to run in the Item-treadmill.

This is already happening on some servers. You have a dozen people looking for other people to play with but, they’re all at different difficulty levels. It’s so funny and sad at the same time.
Very poorly designed system.

This made me laugh. Well done sir!

And the inevitable rebuttal we hear is this new content is optional so go back to your old content, peasant! It is like people don’t understand that encouraging the fracturing of the playerbase is questionable game decision at best.

Not me, but them.
Like this is the first MMO ever.
agony level is the new gear score

Actually fractal level is. Does anyone have any ascended gear yet?

Hmm, wonder what Sigmund Freud would say about that slip? :P
And the only thing you’ll hear in the lower lvls is how noob you are, and how everyone else’s “main” is on lvl 100… whether it’s true or not.

well in my defense i was not completely wrong! either way it is quite agonizing!
either way, this is exactly as intended, as we know from the official statements. there was absolutely no chance of any other scenario, because this is the onyl scenario which results from such actions, and as stated, this was their intentions.
i say i’m going to hit my head with a shovel, and do it, i can’t say i was surprised it hurt now can i?
EDIT:OOPS
One of the nice things about GW1 was that you were never left behind. Now with gw2, if I dont grind this new gear (and do it soon) It will soon be too late to catch up. Once a new expansion comes out……. I honestly wish I never picked the game up.

NOPE! That was a rumor started by some random person.
